Hey, first time commenting here. I’m Terry from Plymouth, UK. I’m a fairly new to learning guitar. I havea Jose Ferrer classical guitar what I’m learning on.
Been practicing guitar for a few months and have built myself a songbook with lots of songs I like. I know all the eight beginner chords although do still struggle mastering them as some strings do still get muted and chord changes I struggle with a bit also.
Welcome to the forum. It’s a great place to learn new things from the members of this community and where people can answer all your questions about guitars.

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.
Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.
If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.
Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny. Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.
That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.
Cheers. Richard

Hello, I made an introduction post several months ago but didn’t get much further than that back so want to re-introduce myself and try and get more involved here.
I’m Terry and a beginner guitarist from Plymouth, UK. I’m 40 years old and I have a Yamaha FG-401 guitar I recently bought from Cash Converters. I know all the open chords although still struggle a bit with getting them to ring out perfectly without muting.
I’ve also recently joined a local guitar class with Yamaha Music School.
I’ve also been watching guitar videos from Justin and other channels for quite a while now.
I’m currently on Beginner Grade 2 on the lessons here although not got much further at the moment.
Hi Terry,
I missed your first introduction, so will offer a big warm welcome here!
There’s no need to reintroduce yourself (double posting is discouraged).
Just jump in and get involved
Perhaps go back to your original post which picked up a number of warm welcomes, click ‘like’ on the comments and possibly respond to some?
Also feel free to look at other folks threads and respond to anything you relate to.
It can be a bit daunting at the beginning, but you’ll very soon get the hang of it.
Also, don’t be perturbed if one of the moderators merges this with your first introduction.
They’re a nasty authoritarian bunch of…
Thanks, will have a look at all this. I haven’t looked much in the community since I made this introduction but I’m back again and have made a new introduction post.
Sounds good. Sorry for the late response. Just now getting back into the community and will try and make an effort to get more involved this time round. I got a new guitar also.
