Hi everyone, my name is David, I’m 61 and live in Derby UK. I’ve been meaning to join the community for some time and so glad that I am now doing so. I did play a bit of guitar in my teens (basically strumming through a few chords) and then I let the usual ‘life stuff’ take over. Fast forward few decades, and maybe even a bit of a midlife crisis thrown in to the mix, I regained my interest in the guitar, treated myself to a Guild Acoustic and was then recommended Justin Guitar by a work colleague and that was it, the interest definitely kicked in. I’d put myself as somewhere between beginner and intermediate and I’m taking my time enjoying working through Justins Lessons & Songs App before moving on to Justins other courses. I’m finding now that I can play along to some of my favourite songs which is great. As for my taste in music, well this is varied. Having 2 older Brothers meant I was introduced to some great music at an early age, Beatles, Stones, CSN, Neil Young etc. My first ‘favourite’ band in my early teens was Paul McCartney and Wings (somewhat different to my friends tastes at the time in the early 80’s) and to this day I still enjoy listening to Wings. As to what I enjoy playing, I’ve been a big fan of Jack Johnson for over 20 years now. It’s his style and mix of (not sure how to best describe it) Slow Burn, Folky Blues, Mild Rock Acoustic guitar (that kind of sums it up) that I enjoy playing the most. So, I’m looking forward to being a part of the community, engaging with you all, picking up some hints, tips, and guidance etc. and carrying on learning and enjoying the guitar. I remember listening to my sister’s copy of ‘Band on the Run’ in our house in Mickleover (you might know where that is). ‘Let Me Roll It’, played at full blast, was used to introduce a lecture series on the human body at Kedleston Tech (you might know that too).
