I bought a guitar October 2019, expecting to learn when I retired that month then, COVID-19 hit. I learned a few chords on my own, but I need more structure and someone(s) to bounce ideas and techniques off of.

Hi Camille, ya came to the right place for the structure. Start at lesson 1 and follow Justin’s instructions. You’ll be playing a song in no time.
And this is the place to bounce your ideas off of.

Hi Tony. Truth be told, I am able to play a few songs, but they don’t sound very good due to a couple of crooked fingers on my left hand. My goal is to unlearn some of the bad habits I acquired while self-teaching myself the guitar. I am thrilled that Justin presented the anchor method. It’s so much eaiser to transition from D to A this way.

I was self-teaching myself during the lockdown through online videos and such. I learned a little bit, but I am not satisfied with my progress. The anchor method worked really really well for me as a beginner. Good luck.
Justins lessons are amazing for beginners. I started in October of 2023 and stuck with his plan and I am so thankful for the step by step method. Its invaluable for an ADHD person like me. I need a set lesson plan that works.
If I was you I would just start right at the beginning with justin’s website lessons at the begining. Watch the vids, set the practice routine, then go back with guitar in hand and watch them again for the gold nuggets. Do the practices like he describes. I call it my dailys.
Work it 
Also dont worry about your hand too much, and for sure don’t let it stop you. That old folk singer Joni Mitchell, she suffered from Polio as a child and could never fret a guitar normally. She she had to invent her own chords, with different tunings and all sorts of personal innovative ways to play. She is a really amazing women and artist. I personally wouldn’t have even known much about (other than folk hippy person) if not for guitar and learning to respect the guitar work with these artists.
The point being, lots of peps with physical injuries or limitations are jamming, here on Justins, in their living rooms, local bars and even on the big stage.
Go girl you can do it too.

Thank you for the welcome. It has been my dream since age 12 to play guitar. (Are you actually a luthier? I can’t tell if my guitars are set correctly for me or not.)
I have two acoustic guitars, one 6-string electric guitar, and one 4-string bass guitar (I also have concert and baritone ukeleles). I play all of them…badly, but I do play them all.
The journy continues!! 
I appreciate all of the tips and recommendations that I can get.

Hi Ontime (love the name, by the way).
Even though Justin’s website suggested that I start at level 2, I agree with you and started at the very beginning.
As far as my left hand goes, I broke two fingers 50 years ago. The funny thing is, when they healed, my typing speed and accuracy improved. I didn’t know that about Joni Mitchell.
My issue has been making simple chords like C and D. The ring finger curves in under my middle finger and the pinkie curves in under the ring finger. It’s frustrating, but I do manage to get reasonably decent sounding chords.
I joined Justin’s group because I want to un-learn some of the bad habits I picked up while teaching myself to play guitar (YouTube, etc.). I’m thrilled to have other people to bounce ideas, techniques, etc. off of.
