Really helpful thanks, I have been looking for songs to apply this technique to and your ācheat sheetā is a huge help to me so I can go looking for songs with chord progressions where I can apply this.
I went through this lesson last night and while Iām not exactly unfamiliar with moving the open chords, Iāve known about shifting them up 2 frets, this is brilliant!
One of the longest single lessons to date but it flew by. Plenty of exploring to do! Awesome Justin, just awesome
Wait, do you highly recommend the lesson or Fluffhead? If this lesson helps you play it, my guess is both.
You are correct. Just went and watched a video. Thanks for pointing that out. Anytime I can center these concepts on something I like, it helps it stick.
I found if you just do a basic G chord (finger on E string, mute A string, finger on e string), itās very movable up the neck.
CAGED absolutely intrigues me, and since finding out about it you notice so many professional guitarists using it vs open chords
Either āfullā CAGED chords or triads
that C shape G on the 10th, not finding it easy at all! i think because it squares the elbow up as it comes up the frets and so makes getting my lil finger down ultra-tricky. also, the action is way higher up there than nearer the nut, which iām finding makes the accuracy of pressing them down tricky. is that normal?
my song pick for practicing this shape is Love on the weekend. because its nice and simple so i can focus on getting the chords right.
Donāt know if this will help anyone, but there is a song sweet one by tracy chapman, you can find it on YouTube. It has a minor shapes moved up to 6th and 5th fret. It might be nice to include a practice rountine
this reminds me of parklife
go onā¦
and now I have that song in my head!
I found the CAGED introduction in the last lesson really tough but I have stuck with it. I watched the video again and again until I understood and now, rather than give up, I am rewarded with this lesson! Just fabulous. Mind blowing. Wonderful. Thank you Justin and all the team for this.
Thank you for this
I love the little āburst of C major scaleā in the explanation of the E-shape cords. Would it be possible to add the tabs for this burst on this page (or somewhere else)?
That is a great lesson !! I felt I learned a lot from it. Iām going to be watching that again.
Ace as always Justin
