I'll be there for You cover

Enjoyed a second listen, Adrian, the better quality of home recorded video streamed off YT (rather than Zoom).

Deft playing, delicious tone (who couldn’t love a litle 'verb), and fine singing.

Have to come clean, never placed the song. Friends was one of those shows that was big when I wasn’t watching TV. Many years after, I caught up with Big Bang Theory, and loved that. After growing up more with Seinfeld, Cheers, Fraser. Maybe I need to do the same with Friends, give it a chance, cause the few clips I have seen here and there don’t grab me at all.

Nice Adi, enjoyed it live and in this recording.

I read this today in the Guardian, about how it made the Rembrandts uncool. It did make them a lot of money though. Looks like Cate and Mari, add to their coffers regularly. To be honest I don’t like the show.

Very well done, Adrian! I can’t add anything to what has been said by everyone else. I truly enjoy listening to you play and sing.

David. It has to be the funniest thing ever on TV. Even after all those years if I happen to click on it it makes me hoot. Joey is my favourite. Hey, what are you doin’ . Joey don’t share food .

Super cover Adi. Very inspirational to this young grass hopper following in your footsteps.

Nah that would be Only Fools and Horses. Friends doesn’t even come close. There’s no proper bellie laughs.

Would have to agree that the one where Del Boy lent on the bar counter which had just been lifted up was an absolute classic.

@sairfingers that’s the difference you could watch Only Fools and Horses episodes over and over again and still have laughing fits just like you could watch Adrian’s performances over and over again and enjoy them just as much as the first watch.

Impressive finger picking, loved the solo and what a great vocal performance. I thought your OM performance was superb too. I enjoyed watching this again :+1:t3: :clap:t2: :clap:t2:

Adi, you got the famous 4 claps from me on this “studio” version the same way you got them at the open mic haha! Very cool performance overall but I absolutely loved the ending though, with the tremolo/vibrato on the note just before the last chord. Nice touch!

Also, I completely forgot about Boyce Avenue. I must admit that until today, I thought the band was called boys avenue. I was too young at the time and my English was barely existent when my sister was listening to them a lot and my brains just made up their name.

I left a comment on the tubes but may as well do one here. That’s some pretty great playing. More slick than the OM. Great singing too.

On Friends, I watched a few but didn’t get into it. Although it was a huge hit the world over, for sure.

Well done Adi! Vocals and stripped down tempo worked – you nailed it and own it. It’s your song now. Love that little slur in the interlude section. Nice track.

Haha that made me smile James thank you! You might want to join the cheesy guitar clan with this sort of puns  joking aside really appreciate the support and by the looks of how you are cracking on with fingerstyle blues recordings you are really not that far off!

David thank you for support as always! I think if you enjoyed TBBT this should also suit your taste. First season of Friends was mostly average but it was a great appetiser before those good episodes kicked in. Of course like with many American sitcoms there are better and worse episodes but overall I think it was really funny sitcom and to my personal taste humor survived longer there than in TBBT.

Thanks Phil, I think I read this story before something rings a bell, anyway as you say they have been well paid so probably can get over it :grinning: I know it was very close to not use this song as a theme but the other one was completely forgettable so I don’t blame them for picking Rembrandts song.

Thanks Luka for the clap(-s)! :grinning: glad you enjoyed the vibrato bit that was something I added myself, sometimes this wild ideas come to mind and some stick like this one and others don’t :grinning: I hope to find some time over the weekend to catch up with your latest upload!

As for the band I completely accidentally found this cover and then explored the band further. Yes Boyce word was always intruiging and for a short while I was also sure it’s Boys haha

And to others I haven’t quoted thank you so much as well!

@adi_mrok Adi, this is really, really well done.
Like a number of other people, I watched and enjoyed your open mic performance.
But for me this is next level. I recall you saying in another post you don’t give too much thought to voice, but you’d never know it from this. Something about this arrangement has a more melancholy feel, which I prefer, and I actually think lends well to your voice.
The guitar work is excellent, nice tone, decent sound quality. Just awesome.
This recording has inspired me to give it a shot and maybe add it to my repertoire.

I guess in the spirit of the ‘Community Nudge’, maybe I’ll give Friends a look as I think it runs on Netflix.

I’m also a fan of Only Fools and Horses, and other English gems such as Open All Hours, One Foot In the Grave, Keeping Up Appearances.

As a gross generalisation, I find the English comedies more to my like than the American offerings.

I shall report back honestly if I do happen to give it a spin (as done with my (re) sampling of Nirvana and RATM)

I shan’t apologise too much for maintaining this minor hijack, what more can one expect when playing the theme song

Hey thanks for this Dave, I do enjoy the melancholy of this cover too and I think this cover did a big competition to the original, I wonder if it hit the radio would people be debating on which one is actually better?

If you need some tabs let me know, comparing to the cover I changed on thing when playing D chord as the tabbed version was throwing me off from song’s tempo. Also there was a tricky bit in the solo to figure out how to play it so again - if anything let me know!

Good on you David on being open to try new things  one doesn’t know until trying things out!

I personally was raised on American sitcoms so I am more used to to this sort of humor, although with age I much more prefer British sense of humor which I guess sort of got a lot more understandable and relatable to me since I started living in the UK. I remember as a child watching Father Ted (althoigh it might be Irish?) or Fawlty Towers and this was always cracking me up too!

More classics! And I must mention Black Adder. I wasn’t much a Mr Bean fan, but Atkinson and others in Black Adder were brilliant.

This was great, Adi. Singing and guitar were both spot on!

Good to see an OM follow up and this was superb. Big admiration for being able to sing this while picking. I am in awe of anyone who can do that but this was really tight. Loved the guitar tone, which worked really well with you vocals. Not a song that was really on my radar back in the day, as this old grump could never get into the associated TV show. But really liked this mellow laid back version and your on point delivery ! Thx for sharing. :sunglasses:
