RIP Ozzy, you were a half crazy fella but an extremely talented artist!
It’s hard to see members of local bands to me gradually passing on, I grew up with them!
RIP Ozzy.
It’s a bummer, Depp Purple and Black Sabbath are my earliest musical memories.
RIP Ozzy, he was a top-tier frontman and a genuinely good (though somewhat crazy) bloke.
There aren’t many who go out giving the middle finger to Parkinsons and every other ailment like Ozzy.
He lived.
He just got on with stuff and from the interviews was genuinely confused about why people thought he was so great.
I’ve just worked out that it’s nearly 40 years since I saw him at the Monsters Of Rock concert at Donington Park. Great entertainment.
Guitarist George Kooymans of Golden Earring passed away
The first …and also best Dutch band… to score a number 1 hit in America… this death had already been announced by the discovery of A.L.S.
Their farewell tour was canceled when this became known and the band decided to stop without him,
This was their biggest hit, but they made a lot of great music and were very popular with motorcycle clubs all over the world and more…
(Sorry to those interested, I couldn’t find an English message so quickly and have to leave now)
RIP George
When I moved to Calgary in 1998 I’d do the 6 hour drive to the small town I grow up in about once a month and made up a bunch of cassette tapes of my favorite bands.
Had one tape with an hour of Radar Love on it. Best song to listen to when you’re cruising through the mountains by yourself in the mid of the night.
Sorry to read this. I got really into Golden earring when I moved to Den Haag in 2001 and always loved the song Going to the run. Rip.
R.i.p. ozzy ozborne, your doing insane solos in the sky now,
Another constant from my younger days.
R.I.P., George.
Sad to hear this Golden Earring are another favourite of mine, love the Moontan album. Me and my mates saw them headline at Reading festival in 1976, they were superb.
Radar Love was one of those iconic riffs of the early 70s. RIP
Sometimes it seems your heroes are falling like leaves. Yesterday one of the best Dutch guitarists passed away; George Kooymans. He was the lead guitarist of Golden Earring, wrting the music for all their songs. The band gave me the impression of a group of close friends. Their most famous song is Radarlove.
George suffered from the disease ALS, depriving him of the ability to play guitar almost immediately.
Now we are left with the bands legacy. To feel their energy, just listen to their accoustic sessions om the Naked Thruth albums.
sad to hear that I liked golden earring back in the day, also Ozzy Osbourne died on Tues wonder how many people will be learning Paranoia
Assume you mean Paranoid ?
Yeah that’s it not a metal fan tho
Have no idea if this is allowed, but what the ‘ell:
No doubt it’ll be deleted if not permitted.
Aw, I loved listening to Chuck Mangione. Time to pull out a dusty CD from the rack.
I went to high school in Madrid, Spain 1973-76. Saturday nights were spent at downtown bars and dance clubs, where Radar Love was always on the playlist. I still get a chill from that song.
