Say hi, tell us a bit about yourself and your dream Blues Solo (if you want!). ![]()
Oke Fanny ,because you asked so nicely ![]()
Hi ![]()
And I dream that I play it all
![]()
I wish everyone a great learning experience and incredible fun⦠actually fun thatās all that really matters ![]()
Greetings ,Rogier
Howdy
This is the kind of playing that attracted me to the guitar in the first place nearly 25yrs ago.
I also dream to play it all. though I only just started the prep lessons last night and am happy with my progress on the first one in maybe half an hour of practice time.
Also re-started the prep lessons (were parts of Grade 3 somewhere) and still didnāt achieve to get the 90% score (my best is 87%). Not so easy to focus on the play when something is recording you ![]()
Rectif, just got 92% on the 2nd āSteady Thumb Blues Primerā ![]()
Hi ![]()
Iām Jasmine ![]()
I also dream that I play it all
(maybe I can play like Samantha Fish one day?
)
But also, I dream to play all the pieces in the course well at full speed, and to be able to improvise well musically without sounding like random notesā¦
I started with Target 3rd Blues because I was currently working on (and having a lot of fun with) the corresponding Single Line Blues from the older course. Already sooo glad I got the new course! It has a lot of great gems and Iām already having a much better understanding of it ![]()
Wishing everyone a lot of fun too ![]()
Ashu here. I havenāt started the course yet, plan to finish Unit 6 of BLIM, and learn a couple Beatles songs, before picking this up in January.
But I am mightily tempted to try now! I do have a five minute slot for blues finger style improv in my daily routine⦠![]()
Like others, I hope to learn all these solos ![]()
My dream songs are Before you accuse me (EC unplugged version), Hey Hey (Broonzy) and Mojo Hand (Lightninā Hopkins). Hope the course lets me take a crack at them ![]()
Hope everyone enjoys this new course!
This is Dominique
and I really love this type of playing!
One day I hope that I will play these songs reasonably well.
A proof that I liked this style and am really happy about the new lessons is that my first AVOYP roughly one year back was the āboom bass with licksā.
Iād love to jump on this, but there are quite a few tasks I have to do before. I mean, there are SO many interesting things in guitar land and sometimes I feel like a little kid marveling at all theses things and not knowing what to do (/practice) first! ![]()
Like Ashu, Iāll try to reserve a little time for the Solo Blues in my practice at the moment, but it will proibably be january until I can commit more time to it.
Hi all,
Iāve been working on this thing called playing the guitar for about 15 years now! Slow learner. I have quite a few songs memorised but, like the ad for the course says, I just want to sit and noodle around and kind of create, get out of the box sort of thing. Iām hopeful that this will work.
I did ask a question about finding tabs for this course on the website. Iāve looked but if itās there it isnāt obvious. Do downloadable tabs come with the course or do we pay extra for them?
Iām enjoying this so far!
Cheers, Leo

OK, so here I go again, I am up for this, why not? I ask myself, Hi all HEC here ![]()
Hello everyone.
Huw here and glad to be on board. Couple of years into my guitar journey, particularly focussing on blues style and fingerpicking over the last year or so - with slow progress being made.
Like a few others have mentioned, not quite ready to jump all in yet as trying to finish off another online course. Feel that January is also a good starting point for me too and be happy then to join in study chat etc. Until then I will just have a sneaky peek at some of the early lessons to make sure I will be able to cope - and to ensure that the technology is all good.
Aim is to do exactly what Justin has indicated. To be able to play a couple of complete songs to my family in order to justify the seemingly vast number of hours that I spend noodling around and getting easily distracted across numerous online lessons! Hopefully this course is the one!
Nice to meet you, Huw, and welcome here, and I look forward to working alongside you on this journey, cheers HEC
Cheers Hec and good to meet you too.
See you on the journey - enjoyš
Iām not sure if I qualify as a Solo Blues peer as I havenāt bought the course yet.
Iāve been practicing Boom Bass with Licks for a couple of weeks and can play the first 12 bars - slowly - from memory. Iām quite enjoying it now that Iāve got going with it. Itās a challenge though playing electric guitar with the pads of my fingers. The bass part with thumb is okay but the tone of the licks needs a lot of work. It definitely sounds like two different guitars! ![]()
If Iām still enjoying it after these first three lessons, Iāll buy the full course.
There is a lot to say about playing licks on an electric guitar with your fingers. Chris Buck explains why he does it, and it sounds awesome, mixing plek and fingers and nails, all sorts of different sounds
Yep, thatās what Iām gettingā¦.all sorts of different sounds! ![]()

Its not such a bad think David, I am trying to learn it at the moment and its not easy cheers HEC
No itās not easy.
I tried it about a year ago but couldnāt get the hang of it so I dropped it.
Picked it up again a couple of weeks ago and it seemed easier from the off. Donāt know why but there you go.
Keep going with it, Hec, youāll get there.
I just have the first 12 bars memorised and that makes it easier to practice. I donāt need to keep looking at the tab.
I practice it in different ways.
Sometimes the whole thing.
Sometimes just the licks.
Sometimes just the bass.
Iām giving it another week then Iāll start adding the next 12 bars.
