I was wondering the same thing myselfā¦There must be 10 more, at least
Maybe the numbers are low because this thread got dismissed in peoplesā lists when they didnāt understand the title? Create a new one so that those who dismissed this thread have another opportunity to join?
[ Iād put my name in again just to get a box of air guitar strings signed by Justin.]
Itās impossible to predict what will be fly and what will bombā¦
There was greater participation last time around, but itās a different place now, with more members posting less regularly.
Thereās a growing (understandable) sense of not wanting to share personal info on internet platforms (although most members who introduce themselves do share where they are from at some point)
Whilst it would be cool to have a densely populated map reflecting JGās popularity, I personally prefer to have a map of names with mainly regular contributors that I recognise.
(Itās also less work to maintain )
Time will tell as Dutchy saysā¦
Iām a nerd and first read the title as āJG Community website mapā, that is, what is the geography of the Community website, not what is the geography of the Community participants.
And, especially, thank you @brianlarsen for taking on the work this entails. When Iāve volunteered for the kind of commitment youāre doing here, it creates a little bug in my head that needs constant feedingāhave I missed something? how to keep malefactors out? am I entering data correctly? how to identify and clean out cruft? Iād love to offer advice how to streamline maintenance, but Iāve no clue how to script it/automate.
Hi Brian. Iām afraid I fall into that category as my wife and I have recently had a series of very plausible scam attacks on our bank account. Fortunately we have not fallen for them but it makes you wonder where these people get their information from. We have both removed ourselves from Facebook albeit we used it very infrequently and really only to keep in touch with family. I do not have 982 friends.
We do online shopping and of course that involves email address, credit card details and home address if things are being delivered.
Anyway, it is quite fascinating to see where we all come from in this wonderful Community.
Put me down for Glasgow Scotland. Thatās sufficiently vague.
Edit. Iāve recently changed the strings on my air guitar so do not wish to be included in the prize draw.
Aw, no, thank you, itās really not much work
Thereās no shortage of helpful reminders when I āmiss somethingā and I donāt think we have any āmalefactorsā here- lots of weirdos- but all benign
Maintenance is simple: copy/paste the location provided into the search box, add to map, change location name to member name- 30 seconds.
The people who deserve thanks are the ones who volunteer for official roles and keep the show on the road- the moderators. (and possibly the mad one for taking the open mics under his wing, but we wouldnāt like to over-inflate that head )
