Only just started learning, but I couldn’t help jumping the gun and building a pedalboard for the diy guitar I put together…foolish I know, but what the hell…something to play around with while I’m learning
Not foolish, unless you thought that the pedals would replace lots of practice.
You’ll have lots of fun playin’ with all those knobs. Enjoy!
No idea what any of these are but if it gets you playing more it’s all good
R to L - Tuner, Dynamic Wah, Compressor, Blues Drive, Chorus, Noise Gate and Delay
Jumping in with both feet! You will need them for all those pedals.
This is about fun and learning and part of learning to play electric guitar is learning the electronics. I think it is simply part of the way the electric instruments work. If that is the fun for you, you are on the right track.
Looks cool and sure to be lots of fun, David.
A few of the regulars here have lots of good things to say about Donner pedals.
Like Rob, I was wondering what they were, so thanks for sharing.
A reverb pedal is conspicuous in its absence? And maybe you’ll be wanting a looper. When you reach the modules in Grade 2 that introduce scales, then there’s hours of fun to be added recorded rhythm in the looper and solo’ing away. And over and above the fun, lots of learning benefits in that as well.
Rock on.
Looks good.
Learn guitar.
Learn to stand.
Learn to dance.
Put all three together = BINGO!
A good start… a reverb is the obvious one that’s missing and in all honesty is one everyone needs/should have. A reverb makes a big difference on it’s own without any other pedals.
Welcome aboard, Dave
Tbh, I’d be really worried how you’re commencing your guitar journey (based on your guitar refurb and pedal board posts), if I hadn’t read that you played bass in a couple of bands previously.
Phew! That means you have at least a baseline understanding of playing stringed instruments and it’s not just a ‘pie in the sky’ weird fantasy (like mine )
Always better to jump the gun than the shark!
@DavidP & @Rossco01 You should know better than to try putting out the fire with GAS
Look forward to following your progress
Must be time for that marshal stack now?
Got my Blackstar Core 40 V2
Cool… I shouldn’t talk I’ve another present on its way…
To somebody that doesn’t have an electric guitar with all that kit to play about with do you ever get a chance to actually play the guitar.
Just kidding
good one, Brian … love that song.
What’s a good reverb mini pedal?
Do you mean like this one I prepared earlier
I didn’t Dave it was all those pedals.
However I did see your post and what you have done with an old guitar, it looks absolutely fabulous. Personally I would have painted it post box red my favourite colour.
I can see why people accumulate electric guitars, apart from the quality of the guitar, all the different colours and shapes to choose from.
Check out the guitar tone from anyone who doesn’t think it’s important. Go on now, git! LOL
The time to start dialing in tone is now and every time you decide to play a guitar moving forward. Let your ears be your guide. Players that care about tone need to make their own way. For me, there will always be a delay in my pedal chain, either analog (most of the time) or digital. Delay to me is much more important than reverb, which is over done by most folks and washes out in a mix. When I do use reverb I reach for my Biyang Tri-reverb - I like it a lot.
A blues driver clone is a cool thing to have, but I would suggest a few more dirt pedals, a rat clone, an OCD clone and a tubescreamer clone at the very least. Many of the clone pedals today can be had for around $20 US (I have a bunch of them). That said, the most important pedal that is missing on your board is a looper.
Play on playa!
Looking good Dave, just got myself a loop pedal and would really recommend it, lots of fun playing with yourself
But in all seriousness, adding that to all those and playing different loops with different effects should be a blast.
Which one did you get?
