Good one Erion. Iāve got a similar problem and will try to share a video. I find it hard to play blues swung eights consistently at higher tempos, especially when mixed with triplets or flick-offs and rolls/slides. They sound more like straight eights and there is less emphasis on the strong beats.
Dave Birnie has given me a few things to work on that should help but after seeing the comments on Erionās message, maybe there is something generic that helps others.
Hereās my question. Itās about 2 licks from Stop Messinā 'Round by Peter Greenās Fleetwood Mac. I can play them at 80% tempo (~100 bpm) but make mistakes at tempo (126 bm). Is this just part of the journey - each new challenge needs to go through the āplay it slowly, speed it up in increments, play along with the originalā - or is there something foundational I can work on that helps more broadly?
I canāt get GPro to make them sound exactly like the record, but this might help alongside the video.

Here it is. Iām playing the solo from āAre you gonna go my wayā by Lenny Kravitz (solo by Craig Ross). I really like this solo and Iāve been trying to learn it properly for the past 10 months 
. I think I have learnt a lot through it, but I feel like Iāve been stuck at the same level for the past 6 months or so. I performed a sloppy version of it on my first JG Open Mic last November (1:02:40), and I donāt think Iāve made any progress on it since then, despite having kept on practicing it regularly. The solo is based on patterns 1, 2, and 5 of the E minor pentatonic scale.
I recorded myself playing it slowly without a drum loop, and then with 100, 110, 120, and 130 bpm rhythm to illustrate how it progressively deteriorates with the increased speed. The original is 128 bpm. In the end I play the problem phrases slowly again. The one I find the hardest to play well fast is the first one. Iāve put captions and chapters in the video to make things easier.
This problem is my moving from G to Bm in a fluid manner.

I missed this post until now. Iām just happy to see dear old Dad come home for a spell --to check our report cards and throw the ball around with all of the neighborhood kids. Good times!
Iām actually embarrassed that this hasnāt happened yet - but I have been SNOWED under with prep for the Tone course which we start filming tomorrow. Plus I has a week holiday, some home dramas and school holidaysā¦
But itās right near the top of my list and I will do it as soon as I get a chance after the first batch of filming.
I think itās a super fun idea and I really wanna get into it - but if you saw how much goes into the prep for big courses like this thing with Dan, youād understand!
