While you’re just dealing with one pedal you might as well go super cheap with a power supply. It’s only if you start building a pedal board with multiple pedals that it becomes time to think about how much to spend and future-proofing yourself. I’ve spent soooo much money on mine but it should outlive me
oh my ! how many pedals do you have ?
I try not to fall into that rabbit hole But I think I’d need a tuner pedal for when I go to the music school
Im always borrowing the phone of my teacher to get in tune
or I can just bring my tablet … I never thought of that !!!
My board looks like the board of someone who can actually play guitar… I’ll grow into it!!!
I’ve got a couple of different fuzz pedals, a high gain distortion pedal (for rock/metal), a pitch-shifter (for down-tuning) and a compressor (because I thought I needed one but probably don’t). That’s mounted on a Fender board with an 8 port isolated power supply under it. The footswitch for my amp also lives on it.
I’ve stuck with a headstock tuner because I play acoustic as well which I rarely plug in
I thought you said you rarely touch your electric guitar but you have some nice gear for it !!!
It’s true. I’ve probably played more electric guitar in the past 2 weeks than I did in all of 2024.
2025 needs to be the year when I correct that and start using the gear

Hi Deborah,
Where have you found this lesson on major scales? This is not pattern 1, at least not the way Justin teaches it. It resembles pattern 5 the most.
ah no pattern 1 is for the G Major scale , the E major comes from somewhere else , its not from Justin’s site
I found an exercise that I wanna work on but I gotta learn this pattern first
and I have so many things on my plate at the moment that I dont rush learning it

Oh I forgot … I reworked a bit on old lessons on YS since I received notifications that @mattswain made a better score than me
Is it me or did Constance disappeared ?
Did you find they’d got easier? It must be a while since you last did some of them and have done many hours of practice since and be a good sign that all the practice is paying off.
I’m flying through the chord based ones but some of the single note string switching ones are taking a bit more time. I’m occasionally going back to some of those, not chasing a score, they’re just obviously what I need to practice most
Level 1 and 2 are super easy now
melodies starts to get harder at level 3
Did you try stand by me ?
No, I think I saw Stand By Me but picked something different. It’s good when you do go back and find stuff has become easier
Oh I see it’s in one of the daily/weekly challenges. I had a look, even the level 3 version is too fast for me at the moment. Unlike with cowboy chords that I’ve practiced loads and now if I see a G chord, my hand goes straight there (95% of the time), I’ve not developed the same degree of automation yet when I see something like fret 3 middle finger, and it only gets worse when it involves switching between strings. Stand By Me is probably quite a good practice exercise for me but for now I’ll have to slow it down, don’t expect to see me at the top of any leaderboards on it!

I wasnt asking if you’ve played it but if you’ve seen it
It was to show you how difficult a level 3 can be when you have to play with the pinly on fret 4 or 5
You d better practice all the melodies level 2 you can do before trying a level 3
I really thought there was a gap between level 2 and 3
oh this one is not easy even for me , I struggle a bit on it
my fingers do not land where I want at the right time
I’d say at the moment my skills are inconsistent with their levels! I’ll need to even this out in the coming weeks.
Back in Black and I wanna Rock, both level 3 power chord songs and I can play them both well. I had a look at TNT (AC/DC) level 4 and that’s a bit fast for my fingers but I can probably get there soon.
Cowboy chords, level 3, all good.
Stand by me and The Memory Remains (simplified) by Metallica, both level 3, and I’m not close to either of them!
sometimes the levels are all wrong …
I mean sometimes a level 4 is easier than a level 3 or a level 5 easier than a level 4 or 3 …
I dont know how they graded it but it s not always very logical ( like a B or Bm chord on level 3 or 4 ? seriously ? )
But melodies level 2 would be quite allright to start practicing single notes playing
oh I should try them then thanks
The dreaded power chords …
I worked a lot on it tonight and my fretting hands aches
I guess your level is probably a level 5 or 6 for cow boy chords
I Wanna Rock has proper power chords so would be a better challenge for you. Back in black is E5 A5 D5 which are all single finger power chords so won’t really teach you what you want (but it’s fun to play).
thanks a lot for the tip
I m looking for ( easy ) power chords songs on YS but the library is so huge that its hard to find them
( I hope they ll allow us to search by chords one day )
the bad news is , my Botox injections are no longer effective and the pain is back … meaning my shoulders and neck muscles are straining too much and my arms aches
my next appointment is next month ( 13th ) … its going to be a long month … Last time I was sometime unable to hold my guitar
I already wrote about it last october : Mac's learning log - #612 by MacOneill
Hang in there Deborah, hope it doesn’t get too severe for you.
