ah ah I promise , nothing more XD
well … maybe a simple cable … dunno why , but the one I bought do not work with the pedal board and I have to re enroll at the music school for next year …

I put my strap higher
back to how it was at the beginning and my playing was way better than yesterday
I can’t do a B barre chord with a lower strap
( my hand is too small )
but I need a lower strap for playing single notes , its a better position for my right arm
Does it mean that I need 2 straps for 1 guitar and change regularly ?
No practice tomorrow since I ll go to the workshop at school and play with the other students
Workshop practice this evening
We were 2 teachers and 5 students ( 2 students did not come )
We only worked on Handbags and gladrags by Rod Steward tonight
I finally understood the part that was different from the JG app and was able to play it
It s a beginner friendly version so we only strum on 1 2 3 and 4
no hard strumming pattern
I should record it for futur reference
I noticed that when you play with a drummer and other musicians … you do not hear yourself playing !
Its a bit a competition between who’s the loudest
I also worked a bit on the CAGED barre chords
you think that F is difficult ?
wait until you try to play a G barre chord !!!
On another note
yesterday I felt like drawing so I did this :
Now I m turning it into a game for my publisher and make some money out of it
Love your drawings!
And your learning seems very methodic - great! I’ll have to get back to more of this too! Very very soon!
But why is a G barre chord harder than an F for you?
Often people find the F harder because the nut is close and you’ll have to press a bit harder for the F. Maybe they’re almost equal on a perfectly set-up guitar, I’m not sure.
I find those A shape barre chords hard, like a B or C for example
Love your drawings!
thanks a lot ^^
But why is a G barre chord harder than an F for you?
I used the wrong words … sorry
its not playing a G in a barre chord form , I was talking about the G shape in the CAGED system
this one is nasty
I find those A shape barre chords hard, like a B
Yeah B or Bb are not easy but still doable
but in a way you re right, I find it more difficult to play a barre chord on the 12th fret than a simple F barre chord near the nut
the arm is really close to the body and to keep the fingers flat you have to move the guitar a bit on the side so I struggle more higher on the neck than near the nut
Ok so today I played a lot !
I started the day by going to my guitar lesson at school
I asked my teacher if I could have a 1 to 1 lesson instead of going to the workshop and he told me to go to both … and say a little white lie if we were caught
so I had a lesson today
and since the person after me didn t come , I even had a double lesson ( 1 hour )
it was great ! We covered a lot of things !
We talked about Born under a bad sign
I struggle a bit on the solo part so he showed me how to play it correctly
the thumb must be behind the neck if I want to use my pinky … its more complex
I ll keep this song in my routine and keep working on it
I told me to keep on practicing the spider exercise , it will help me to position my hand
We worked on Hard to handle and The thrill is gone , because I did not understand the rythm shown in YS , its not possible to mute the strings the way they ask it
So my teacher explained to me that it was because the rythm is made for barre shape chords and not open chords
that was pretty normal that I was having a hard time !
I ve never tried to play a funky rythm before … maybe I should try to learn them without YS
We worked on the CAGED system and he showed me how to play an easier G shape
I showed him a song on YS with bends : Somewhere
Once again the song is not very beginner friendly , as it often happens in YS
so he suggested that I should try working on the Black dog riff by Led Zeppelin first
I dont see how it is more beginner friendly
I ll be able to play it at the right speed next century maybe
but still , I will add it to my practice
To finish I asked him about the cursus next year because its the period to re enroll
looks like there ll be 1 to 1 lessons AND also group lessons every week
but its gonna cost more
I didnt dare to ask how much it will cost at the front desk this morning since I was not supposed to be here with a guitar
then in the afternoon I did my usual practice routine

Developing repertoire :
goal 1: memorize 10 songs to play for your friends at parties … why ? i cant go out ! I have no social life … This goal does not speak to me at all
Im not interested
goal 2 : participate in an open mic
hmmm I was supposed to participate in the end of year concert at the music school
but since my health prevents me from doing this , I will record a video for each songs and share them here , thats the best I can do !
I already shared some videos on the forum
Open mics here are in the evening , im afraid of disturbing the neighbours since the walls are thin , I need to buy an atenuator first
but I d like to try one once
goal 3 : play with the records 10 songs
Im a bit confused , isnt it what we already do with backing tracks in the app ?
So far I tried 4 songs with backing tracks on YT
many many more on the apps
No guitar today because I went to the dentist and im tired
and also because I saved a baby goat tonight
there’s a field with 2 goats in my street , one of them had twins a few weeks ago
its very lovely to see them grow
yesterday when I went for a walk , I heard cries coming from the field and I realised with horror that one of the baby goat fell into the abandoned factory that is right below the field
there s no fence at the end of the field and the factory has no roof so its just a deep gap
I called the man who takes care of the goats and he promised the call the owner to retrieve the baby goat
but when I went back tonight to check , the baby was still missing !
the carer was at his window so I asked him what happened and he told me that the owner did not come and that he cant join him … he looked like he really just didnt care
So I told him that I will call the police or the firemen , and if there was a bill to pay , They will send it to the owner !
I went to the factory first and checked on the baby goat , I could hear him cry so it was still alive then I went straight to the police station who is just nearby the field ( lucky ! )
2 policemen came quite quickly , I told them the story and we went to the factory
when they saw that it was easy to enter it , they went inside
they started chasing the poor frightened goat for 5 minutes but with only 2 person it was impossible to corner the baby so I went inside too !
We chased the poor thing and with the three of us we finally caught it after 5 minutes !
we brought it back to its field , it went straight to his mother and they disappeared
they wanted to hide
and you know what ?
the owner was here !
it took him 10 minutes to come after I warned I was calling the police !
people like that should not own animals !
this baby could have been saved yesterday in only 10 minutes … they just didnt care about it !
Im really happy to know that the baby is safe back with its mother tonight
but Im disgusted with humanity … ( except for the 2 nice policemen , they were really nice and did an awesome job )
2 valid men did nothing when it took 20 minutes to a cripple woman …
Taking animals means caring for them !

Let’s talk in a few weeks…!?
@Helen0609 you were right
I did make an order again at Thomann for a minotaur strap and a Bugera power soak
you jinxed me
Hi, hi,…
. But at least the strap is absolutely necessary to save you from the neck diving issues
. Not sure about the Bugera… but you have enough limitations to take, so you deserve some gear that makes you happy. Enjoy it and have fun!
Kudos for saving the little goat . I can’t believe how indifferent some people are to their animals. He should protect his animals from falling down. I’m happy for the little goat you came along and could help her
!
Deborah @GrumpyMac
Well done I am proud of you.
Michael
oh well , one more gear does not matter anymore XD
I m way past my budget anyway
@MAT1953 thank you ^^

I’m so glad you were able to save the baby goat! They are so cute, and they cry like babies, I don’t know how anyone could leave a kid crying overnight without its mum
Even though it was a stressful moment, I still can only imagine two policemen and you running around after a baby goat in a factory with Yakkity Sax playing in background
**
There’s a song called Somewhere a Clock is Ticking by Snow Patrol, which your Yousician song reminded me of. It’s been so long since I listened to it! I love that song, it was in heavy rotation on my playlist in my emo younger days. Had a nice riff, although it had a couple of guitars doing different things, going off my memory of listening to it years ago before I knew anything about guitar. The sound uses some sort of grungy / heavily distorted pedal, I think. You might like it if you were into that sort of music.
**
I don’t know what your guitar strap is like, I had to fiddle with mine a lot to get it to a height I like, but the end that goes on the guitar body has two holes spaced about fifteen-ish centimetres apart and I suspect this is so you can go from sitting to standing without undoing the whole strap and reconfiguring it. Maybe you can configure your strap so that the end hole is perfect for the longer length and the next one up is set for the shorter length? There might be some compromise, I’m not sure. The only other thing I can think is that some straps have a sliding buckle situation, like a bra strap, which would be quicker and easier to adjust as you need it.
I’ve been getting an ad on instagram for some pretty guitar straps that have that sort of buckle and a leather understrap, I think. I’ll send you the link next time it pops up in my feed.

and they cry like babies,
yeah , it was heart breaking to hear them cry
I dont know how the carer could have slept that night as if nothing was happening !
I couldnt bear the idea of the baby spending another night alone , without food !

ah ah yeah it was very benny Hill ish
with the mother crying : DONT YOU DARE TOUCH MY BABY !
she was watching in the field above
I dont think I ve ever heard it
I ll check the link when I ll have time
thanks ^^
About the strap , If the minotaur strap does the trick , I will have 2 playable guitars
I will set one with a shorter strap , and one with a longer strap
this way I will always be ready to play ^^
I think I own more straps than guitars now
( but Im curious about the strap you re talking about , send the link if you find it please )
Well done! It looks happy again!
I was thinking of the same guy after reading Constance’s words and searching for that name. My uncle in France loved Benny HIll and there were funny things every now and then, but I’m glad this time has passed
Tonight was the last session of group practice for the school year
we were 6 students + 2 teachers
to be honest is was pretty chaotic
personally :
I am not used to play and read at the same time so I got lost several times on Karma police and It seemed that the tempo of the drummer was completely off in Handbags so I got lost again
I really liked playing with other people
BUT
a group full of beginners is not the best to practice
in the end each sessions were just full of errors and at the end of the year you can not say that the songs are mastered and the group is able to play together
2 sessions every 2 or 3 months is not enough to practice together
next year is supposed to be different
there wont be only 8 practice sessions a year in groups , it will be once every week
it will surely be better
I liked it , it was fun
