Hi, my name is Magdalena, i live in Germany. I turned 50 this year. I have been playing guitar on and off since i was 10 or so. Very basic.
I started Justins course in januar and it went really well, made myself a nice songbook.
After grade 2 i decided to find a „real“ teacher, to check my posture and technique. Doing fine, just some minor changes to take care off. The barree chords were going well, i am not afraid of F or B.
So i decided to move on to grade 3 and then:
I BROKE MY ARM!!!
Doctors are optimistic, but it‘s hell at the moment.
Well, the next 6 to 8 weeks i will spend some time practicing singing.
Hope you guys are doing well and i hope i will be back by christmas.
Welcome to the forum Magdalena. Hope your arm heals quickly, would be a good time to do some music theory. Justin’s first 2 grades of of his Practical Music Theory course are free.
Magdalena - greetings from Warsaw Sorry to hear about your injury; I’m kinda addicted to guitar playing so I can easily imagine how I’d feel if anything like that happened to me. Let’s hope you’ll get well soon and return to our common passion. As Stitch said, now is a good time to study a bit of theory, it never hurts, you know
Anyway, all the best, and enjoy your time spent among this great community.
Regards
Tomasz
Hello Magdelana & Welcome!!!
So sorry to hear about your arm… broken bones are so limiting… they take away choices in life & keep us from doing things we love… I wish you a swift (& relatively pain free) recovery!!! Good luck!
Hi Magdalena, welcome to the community forum. I am sorry to hear about your broken arm. Since you are starting grade 3, now would be a good time to look at the transcription lessons in all the grade 3 modules. You spend most of the time listening to music and just need one good hand to record what you hear. I hope you have a quick and easy recovery.
Hi Magdalena,
Welcome here and I wish you a lot of fun
Bummer of your arm …really $#@^%$, Don`t do that again
So then it’s time to start some music theory from Justin … an absolutely great style with now a small disadvantage for you and the course is a big part hands-on guitar learning process, but to get started and look around and pick up some basics you will probably succeed (I’m not sure if my memory is a bit lacking) but it is always a plus … just go and have a look … the first modules are free and you have a good start for when you can play again completely
music theory is a good idea, i have a little keyboard here, that will do for singing practice too. best 5 Euros ever spent on a fleamarket.
I do write songs and lyrics, so yes, i will have some time for this.
then there is also reading, learning japanese and long walks.
Hello Magdalena. What a shame about your arm - I do hope you are able to resume guitar soon.
