Mr Bojangles Take 2 + Little bit is better than Nada

A new arrangement of an old song. It was sounding a little like a waltz, so changed it up a little, for an upcoming live OM

Hi Mal,
 :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
You already received the ‘like’ within 1 minute … it made me so happy, the singing and the wonderful strum … I am completely moving along with a mega smile … :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

I will definitely put this on again later … and dreaming that you will one day (or soon I read with the om ) play with a second … female … voice added …totally not necessary because it is perfect for what it is, but a person has to leave something to be desired, right?

This makes the day :man_bowing:

Greetings

Fab stuff Mal - It’ll go down a storm at the OM, I’m sure.

What a fun rendition of a great song, Mal! I like the spiced up strumming - no longer a ballad.

Thanks Michael,
as said it was sounding too much like a waltz, so it had to change, pleased you enjoyed it. :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

Thanks Paul,
Like the graphic, and totally agree.
Just a rehearsal at the mo, but getting there. :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

Mal @Malz

Well performed as always.

A bit of a coincidence as we looked last night at the guitar club at this song and another one to consider base note walk downs with descending chords in the key of C.

I am still looking for a club; in the meantime I will just play OMs.
Pleased you appreciated the song. :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

There isn’t enough love to give. Thank you

Mal

A clever, and very different version, of a great song. I think most of the song’s pathos is lost in this arrangement.

Brian

Absolutely, but pathos was not the intention.
That said, for me the pathos is in the words, the arrangement is to get away from the 3/3 waltz time.

You made it your own, very good Mal.

Thanks James, that was the intention.

This is a difficult one to critique Mal. I thought your vocal was terrific. The guitar was, as you say, your own take.
I’ve just re listened to the Sammy Davis, Robbie Williams, Neil Diamond versions who all emphasise the bass line.
Yes, I almost like your version, it’s just a little too up tempo in my opinion.
But hey, what do I know. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi Gordon, thanks for the crit, for me the better version is Sammy Davis.
The version you see is me attempting to get away from the waltz feel, plus a work in progress. By the time the OM comes around in a week or so it could well be different. I just played it as I felt it.
Thanks for watching.

So, not being entirely happy with the first version, I decided to redo it. This one flows better I think.

Sounding great Mal! I see you’ve changed the vocal phrasing slightly. I’m sure it’ll go down great at the OM.

Thanks Phil, it will probably change each time it is played.

What a great version, and in particular this second one :+1: I thought both sounded good but yes the second felt smoother and more flowing.

I don’t remember seing that guitar before
