This is my cover of Badge & Gun by John Mayer. I’m still trying to improve on it and work on my technique, I re-watched a Justin Guitar video on string muting which was a helpful reminder of what to be aware of. Thanks for watching.
Not familiar with the original Susan but sounds like you are making good progress on this one. Thanks for sharing.
Ever thought over joining our open mics ? We have a special First Timers Only coming up this year and this type of performance would be ideal.

It sounds wonderful Susan, well done.
This sounds good! I wonder if Justin’s tip about taping your foot would be useful with helping to keep the rhythm and timing almost like a metronome. Its something I’ve tried to do since I find that my tempo can creep up or down throughout a song inadvertently. Lately, I find myself rocking slightly alternatively. Anyways nice job and thanks for posting
Great playing, Susan, thanks for sharing. I like the way you play chord combining the sound of open strings with fretted ones. You are on the good path to master the fingerstyle technique.
Sounds really nice to me, very precise in your finger picking. John Mayer is a very hard act to follow, your work is pretty good!
I have just one comment about technique, you shouldn’t allow your thumb to go behind your fingers when you’re playing, it should always be forward of your fingers; it’s the most important thing about finger picking, you need to correct it to prevent problems further down the line.
This demonstrates why and how to do it correctly.
Sounded good. I listen to Mayer frequently but hadn’t heard that one - he has so many albums.
It looks like a variation of a travis picking pattern. The more you do travis picking, the better you get at it. A couple of times your rhythm got wobbly but that will get better with time.
Sounded great to me Susan! I can’t offer any advice because it’s not a technique that I can do myself, but it sounds like only minor adjustments to the flow are to be made.
Darrell makes a good point about your thumb and fingers on your picking hand.
I’d like to add that your wrist on your fretting hand is bent at a pretty extreme angle(almost 90 deg) This can cause serious problems in your wrist over time.
It also look like your guitar is resting on the couch which could be causing you to bend your wrist at that extreme angle. Sitting in a chair will allow the guitar to sit at a better angle so you can straighten your wrist (less of a bend)
Well done Susan keep practicing like that and it will not be long, believe in it, ooh and think about what Toby has asked, I know it is a hard thing to do but it is worth every minute. cheers HEC
Making good progress, keep it up, Susan. Good advice from Darrell and Stitch.
Thank you. I might be just too nervous for an open mic, but you’ve sewed a seed for me to think about for sure.
Aw thank you.
I wish I had of practiced tapping my foot earlier in my journey but tended to play along to songs for the rhythm as I really like doing that. I think I will try to tap along though and see how I go. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind encouragement, I will keep going with it.
Thank you for sharing that video, I watched it and found it really interesting. I will be aware of things more now. Thank you.
Thank you, yes John Mayer has a lot of albums, so many great songs, he inspires me. I never looked at travis picking, that’s interesting, I just tried to copy what I saw he was doing from live videos. It’s taken me a lot of time but I never tire of it.
Thank you for liking my cover.
Thank you for bringing my attention to my wrist, I never realised that, Something I need to watch, thank you.
Thank you for your encouragement, and commenting
