My first (recorded) physical OM

I’ve found a great little venue near me in Aylesbury that puts on a monthly open mic night. I went to my first last month, but didn’t get any recordings - which might be a good thing as I was pretty nervous.
This month I felt a lot more comfortable (thanks @LievenDV for the tips!) and just found out that someone recorded it … so here you go, mistakes and all.

I have to say I actually find a physical audience a bit easier than a virtual one

The outdoor Type (The Lemonheads) - You only get one verse as I just got a copyright strike!

St Swinin’s Day (Billy Bragg)

Kathy’s Song (Simon and Garfunkel)

Paul

Very good performances of all three songs, with a well handled variety of accompaniments. Particularly like ‘Kathy’s Song’: you conveyed the sadness of the piece. Well played!

Thanks Mark, appreciate it!

Cheers Brian, bit more pressure to play fingerstyle, not done much recently, but luckily it came back to me pretty quickly

Thanks Boris, it’s good fun to play to a physical audience at last!

Cheers Phil, although I certainly didn’t feel like a natural at the time … it’s getting easier though.

100% Toby - Very good proving ground for a physical OM. As I said, I actually find a physical audience a bit easier for some reason.

Thanks Eddie - probably looked calmer than I felt

Cheers John - appreciate the kind words

Thanks James … I think it was the fairy lights though

Thanks David - it’s probably my favourite too.

Wonderful, Paul! Very well played and sung also!
You should do plenty more!
When I work on saturdays on a market, there are always buskers close to my gazebo.
I know I’ll play there one day (just one or two songs would be great) and my favourite busker already told me: “sure - come and play my guitar when you want to”

That was lovely. Especially St Swithuns day. I’ve always loved that song and I imagine it’s very hard to sing and play it at the same time. In the Billy Bragg recording he also really changes how hard and soft he plays at particular moments which really gives a nice emphasis to certain parts of the song.

Just enjoying your performance Paul, nice one. Do not know the first two but have always liked S & G well done. OMs do get easier but the nerves never leave, at least for me. Well done, you did good. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Go for it!

Glad you liked it Ian. I’ve been a Billy Bragg fan forever - love his song writing, lyrics are just exceptional, I should learn more of his material.

Cheers Mal - yep, I expect there will always be nerves and that’s ok - this time they were closer to ‘excited’ than ‘scared’ which was really nice

Hey Paul :clap::clap::clap:
