Not much to say.
Other than…

luscious
and
I’m envious.

That ones been kinda high on my list of something I could go for.
There was one around here when I was looking awhile ago, but it was the single pup version.
I wanted the one your getting.

Bet your real anxious about right now… Oh the fun of anticipation…

Be sure to tell us all about it…

you have no idea!

I’ll put more here once I get it out of the box - observations, feel, sound… I don’t tend to post recordings, but we’ll see. It usually takes me a bit of time to get something to sound like I want. I suspect this one will be within minutes instead of days.

I can remember how 4 days felt like 1 year when I ordered my Pioneer from Thomann.

Wow that is a nice looking rig.

Ah! So you ordered the P-90s equipped version… I think there’s also one with regular humbuckers. But if I were to make a choice I’d always opt for the P-90s… Love the sound of those pickups even though I’ve never had an opportunity to play a hollowbody with P-90. Must be awesome…
Congrats, and, again, I envy you but only in the positive meaning of the verb :+1: :slightly_smiling_face:

For such a special occasion as getting that beautiful guitar I’m hoping to hear ya post some tones up for us to hear.

Ya should really seek this out.
Like I said, that godin was on my short list. If it’d of had 2 p90’s instead of one, I’d likely of been all over it.
In lieu of that beautiful Godin.
I ended up with a Casino. A hollow body w/2 p90’s…
Of my 2 electrics. The Casino gets the most play.
It is the tones I was searching for. And if I ever get another guitar, it’ll have to be a pretty special one as nothing (except for Michael’s Godin) is really tripping my trigger these days.
And that’s a easy 2 years into my Casino.
Hoping Michael’s new Godin suits him as much as my Casino has suited me. 2 p/90’s in a hollow body is a real good start imho…

Thanks, Jim.

It is sitting on the table cooling down before I open the case another time. It was at about 89 F in the case when it got here. I dropped a temp sensor in there to keep an eye on it. At least I’ll be able to complete my work day while enjoying some Sweetwater candy while I need to wait.

I tried the Casino and also an Ibanez that was full hollow with the same bridge style as this Godin. Both felt like they had too much finish on them, kind of like hard plastic. I was missing P90 pickups, a hollw body, and I like the look of wood (see my Ibanez picture in my profile as well as my Strandberg). When I saw this, I kept going back to look at for over a year now (online - never found one to sit with locally). The price on this dropped about $185 recently and I was thinking it could go back up, so got it.

I’ll fiddle a bit and run a couple fast fragments into a recording. I will go to bed late tonight!

dayum, that has some real classic blues vibes.
Looks great, wonder how it sounds (hint hint  )

First pictures…

Second, initial thoughts…

  1. I’ll need to get used to the neck being so wide! I am missing the strings far more than usual!
  2. you acoustic players will laugh - this is SO LOUD!
  3. It sounds very good plugged in electric. Just on the settings I like for my Strat-o-kit it sounded pretty good.
  4. Acoustic sound is bright and nice
  5. I need to get used to the heavier strings (12-52). I will need to play a bit more heavy-handed.

I will need to figure out the Humidipaks before I put this away. Case as delivered and house are running about 30% humidity.

A beauty! Funny, the narrow neck is what took this off my list and you need to get used to how wide it is! You can put 11s on it, or tune down a half step. I bet it would sound great tuned Eb. Loads of fun to be had!

My narrowest nut is 46mm….

46 - lol. you’d have trouble with my Ibanez! ultra thin and kind of narrow. I like picking that one up maybe the best of everything I have. My hand is not small either.

I found some 10-48 with a wound 3rd string I am seriously thinking about when string change time rolls around. my finger tips are already tender and I never had that even when I was first starting out. I have no chance of a full tone bend - I figured that though.

This sure does sound nice and I have trouble deciding to turn up the amp because the acoustic sounds so nice. Been rolling thru my settings on the modeler and keep tending toward clean and acoustic sounding stuff.

Oooo wow that is great guitar :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: that has been high on my list for a long time…as soon as the guitar shop in the city next to me has this one I will definitely play it…

Happy NGD :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Love it! Love it!
I really is a stunning looking instrument.

I can buy that. The Casino does come with that drab, worn, look/feel though. I near got the worn olive drab, but ended with the plastic vintage sunburst. In the end. I don’t think too much about it though.

Interesting. I can believe that. I don’t get my 12 string out much, but for sure when I have, the wider neck trough’s me for a loop these days. Just like ya say, I miss my chords more than usual. How wide is the new Godin?

Interesting. Comparing to my casino again, I won’t go so far as to say it is ā€œso loudā€, but will say it’s louder than the solid body’s I have. Personally, I don’t play it much unplugged. But do so sometimes, usually my last play for the night right before I put it away for the night.

Excellent! What do you plug into?

This sounds like a win. I don’t think I can say that about the casino. It’s louder unplugged than my solid body’s, but I’d not go so far as to say it sounds bright and nice.
Your new Godin may have a place when yer playing out on the back stoop. No need to bring the amp for the win!

12’s, Yikes. I got 11’s on my acoustic. and for sure I got callouses on my fingertips and for sure play with a heavier hand when I’m playing them 11’s. 12’s, oh my, that might be above my skill level…

Great idea! Seems like I remember the Godin having a ā€˜solid’ cherry top. In the winter here we run low humidity too. I was never real concerned about that low humidity till I got a solid spruce top acoustic. I now use the humdidpaks in that and feel much better about how I’m caring for that solid top instrument. I still don’t do anything for my electrics though, even the casino being it’s laminated maple I think.

Interesting. You’ve got the full range of widths.
I’m kinda in your boat. I got the wide 12 string and for narrow I got a L6-S. It’s 1 9/16". Pretty darn narrow at the nut. What I’ve decided it that I can play any of them, but for sure my preference is for 1 5/8". My three main players are that 1 5/8" including the casino.

Sounds like that may be the ticket. Perhaps consider some 11’s though? I run them on my acoustic. For sure fuller sounding than 10’s. Still a non wound G though. fwiw, I don’t think I can do a full tone bend on that one still.

This to me seems a win. I can’t say that about my casino. It sound ok, but I’d not go so far as to say it sounds nice. For nice, I still gotta pick up a acoustic.

I can buy that. fwiw, consider EOB. Love my casino at that setting and is how I tune my amp in most of the time.
Or perhaps, something I’ve been playing with here a bit lately. Set the amp to near into distortion, then roll back the vol. on the guitar to clean it to EOB again.

Really love your collection of gutiars. Man, ya got it all. Strat single coil’s, humbuckers, three pickup SSH. A very verstitale colloction for sure. Your right up my ally I think. Whatever I got I like to have it be different than what I already got. Myself, what I don’t got is the sss strat. I’ve considered looking into that. After I get to be a better player though…

Congratulation on your new Godin.
It appears it’s really gonna fill a void in your selection of what to play today.

We’re all on the edge of our chairs patiently waiting. Can we hear it too?

Out of curiosity. What amp(s) do you get the choice of playing? Or does your modeler cover all bases?

I’m excited for you.
That Godin really looks like the perfect addition to your arsenal.

wow @HappyCat, that is a nice post to start the morning. Lots of things in there to write about.

It really deos look prettier in person than the pictures. I planned to take some close-ups once the sun comes up. Show some of the details.

First, the bridge intonation is set up for a wound third string. No way around that. I have 3-4 string sets picked out to try and I found that the wound third string is a bit tricky to get. I’ll need to go with either a brand I haven’t tried yet (StringJoy), or one I tend to not like (D’Addario), and there is also flat-wound which I may try, but didn’t like when I tried them long ago. I may have been too inexperienced to use that as a good test case.

I am told this bridge will fall off once the strings are removed, so I’ll need to pay attention to that and getting it back in the right place for intonation when I change strings. I’ll need to take them all off at once since I usually like to do a thorough fretboard cleaning and need to lightly oil it 3-4 times per year or it gets dry feeling. This already feels a little dry.

The body doesn’t have the neck resting on it, so this is part of the resonant sound I have. It feels a little heavy on bass, but that fits well with playing alone. I chose this because it was a true arch-top with fully hollow body. I noticed last night that some but not all amp models I fiddled with will resonate with the body and it will generate feedback quite easily! I’ll need to investigate more to see where that frequency is so I can keep it under control.

Tuning machines feel nice. No sharp edges and no catching points in the rotation. The kit I made earlier this year has horrible catch points in the tunter rotation.

I have a Line 6 Helix. I can plug into such an array of models, that I never find myself needing anything. The Helix was a wonderful decision for my love of fiddling.

We run that nearly year-around. 8 months of air conditioning and 1.5 months of heating with the outdoors being usually below 20%. Indoors is 30% now, and can go down to just under 25% later in the summer if we don’t get any rain. One night with the Humidipaks didn’t change the humidity in the case. The package says the pack should last 2-4 months. I suspect that means 6-8 weeks around here!

I have tables of the measurements. I can post that if you are that nerdy.

My goal is not to duplicate anything. I bought quality guitars that I expect should last me my lifetime - exception is the kit strat at about $80, but that thing sounds really good and sustain is outstanding. It is actually a nice guitar. Still needs some setup touches I haven’t tended to yet, but I expect it to last as well. I will need paint again ia few years - or I can consider it relic  I already have some deep dings in it since i pack it around the house with less care than my other guitars. I see the paint was not thick enough around edges and wood is showing a little.

I didn’t hear too many things in my fiddling last night that were ā€œwowā€, but I did note two. The odd thing is that they were candidates for removal from the saved settings list. One was an attempt to get a 12-string sound out of my PRS or Strandberg. This Godin actually sounds really pretty - not too 12-string-like, but a pleasant sound. It might be enough to satisfy my wife’s Byrds requests.

The second was something I called ā€œWEiRDā€. It has a very fast slapback that is highly filtered and a parallel second path into a Princeton model. No reverb after it.
