NGD - Gorgeous Gretsch (Now with a demo)

Hi everyone!
Finally I’m writing my own NGD topic here.
As the title says, it’s the gorgeous Gretsch G5655TG in Azure Metalic finish. And it’s one of the most beautiful guitars I’ve seen. That’s pretty much the only thing that made me buy it and I’m not disappointed. Unfortunately, photos don’t do it justice, you have to trust me that in person it looks even better.
I haven’t spent much time with it yet, but enough to say that it plays great, the neck is very similar to my SG minus the high frets access (I think I got forever spoiled in that aspect because most guitars simply can’t compete with SG here). The craftsmanship is excellent, everything is done perfectly. The unplugged sound is noticeably louder because of the semi-hollow body, the pickups are very dynamic and responsive and you can play anything with them. Bigsby is a new thing for me and now I can’t use it well, but it’s nice to have and looks great.
The only thing that I don’t like right now is the shape of the tuning pegs. They’re small, round and I prefer keystone style ones like on my SG. But it’s not that big of an issue and I always can search for a set of golden locking tuners, maybe it’s time to see why everyone like them so much.
Okay, enough text, here are some photos of this beauty.

I have a perfect song to play it on. Well, gotta practice then.

I have a similar Gretsch (G5420T in Fairlane Blue). I put locking tuners on it and that made a positive difference with the Bigsby’s tuning stability.

Oh wow, Artem!
That definitely IS Gorgeous!!! Gretsch guitars are so pretty & those Filtertron pickups sound amazing! I was playing (I think) that model at Guitar Center just after Christmas but in Amethyst & was so tempted… somehow I managed to swallow the GAS bubble & put the guitar away BUT, if it had been the Azure finish… I’d be posting the same pics!!! :joy: It’s a really beautiful guitar that feels & sounds as good as it looks!!! Congratulations!!!

I am not sure if those are the Filtertron or the Broadtrons. The Broadtrons from what I understand are more inbetween a Filtertron and a Humbucker. I guess for people who dont want to go “full commitment” into that sound. Or it happens to be on the model they get. I guess there is a bit of a difference. I have played one one time and I didnt know enough about them then and I dont know what I had unfortunatly.

Seriously If you jam it you jam it right? That is one amazing guitar. I would love to get one. And I love Bigsbys.

@metramaks You are so stoked. Are you into rockabilly music? Are we going to see you post you playing some Cramps music or are you more of a Stray Cats guy? Maybe none of that. :metal: :joy:

Yours looks pretty danged similar to this one that Brian Setzer’s holding…

Not bad company to be in!!!

The one I was playing had Filtertrons according to the sales guy… 'course you can’t always believe what a sales guy says… but regardless, it sounded really good playing power chords & arpeggiating over a simple open chord progression!

These are Broad’Trons, so yes, something in between Filter’Trons and humbuckers. And that’s exactly what I need as I mainly play blues and rock. I thought that I’m not hugely into rockabilly, but after listening to Brian Setzer turned out it’s pretty much the same rock’n’roll like early Elvis, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley and others that I really love. Still no idea who Cramps are, but you can expect something like Rock Around the Clock in the future. Though it won’t be the near future.

Yep, the shape looks the same, but his signature is bigger and a hollow-body. Mine is semi-hollow with a center block and as large as a Les Paul.
