Enjoyed watching and hearing you play and sing, Clint, thought-provoking. The refrain worked well.

As for AI . . . remarkable how it is improved in quality since the first truly terrible examples that were shared here some time ago (can’t remember when). This is certainly better (my taste of course) than some of the top songs shared by Rick Beato on on the list video I watched yesterday (why oh why do I still take the click-bait, when will I learn)

Disclaimer:
like any ‘critique’, this is purely subjective, with all the bias that goes with my mixed feelings for both AI and indeed Clint :winking_face_with_tongue:

AI is honing its skills at following instructions by the minute, and I suspect, it will be able to give me exactly what I wish for in the near future, provided I learn to rub the lamp with the correct incantation…

I much prefer the authentic, stripped back, lo-fi, ‘one man & his guitar’ version, where it feels like genuine sharing of thoughts and feelings in musical form. I experienced a ‘fragility’ there.

With the AI production, even if the lyrics and chord progression remained the same- the song did not
In fact, it sounded so ‘professional’, it had me walking down the supermarket aisle in my mind’s eye, wondering whether to by the Kellogg’s or Own Brand cornflakes
What I did like, apart from the high level production, was

  1. the much clearer vocals, making it easier to understand and
  2. The singer was obviously younger and better looking, with that worn leather jacket and fashionable stubble

I do appreciate the way this post ‘drifted’ into the AVOYP section, even though half the music is AI and the point of the post is obviously an AI topic
It’s unstoppable.
And analogous to that other great Dane, King Canute, no amount of shouting at the tide will stop it

Enjoyed both videos but AI should have its own membership to the community where its songs can be posted.

Well Clint ,
I’m shocked by the quality of the AI song you made…so good  not something I really put on here but it could be on the radio as a background or even better than many songs in the supermarket :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

But without a doubt, I find listening to your voice and quiet guitar playing much more enjoyable :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Greetings and keep playing and singing
by yourself…you’re too good at it to let a computer take over
(said by someone who still doesn’t know his DAW :see_no_evil_monkey:)

Hey, your song got “Nickelback-ed”
Can’t say which version I prefer, there’s time and place for everything, even Nickelback
but the solo version is definitly more interesting

Thanks for listening, commenting and liking (in some cases)!

@MollyT is right, AI gave it some Nickelback-edness for sure. I was wondering when someone was going to mention it. LOL

It is all about this song, which is a protest song of sorts in its own right. It is presented in two forms.

… whatever the author says he intended
(The rest was just my interpretation. Similar to me saying these songs instead of this song )

That’s a missed opportunity. So many useful and cool ways to craft music. We can use stems and loops from the Internet or those provided by the DAW to develop our music/songs/tone. Just being able to multi-track and loop our own sections and then cherry pick the best loop is huge. There are a number of things already in use, and almost taken for granted, that are analogous to AI and no one bats an eye.

Thanks DP! This really is about the song and I appreciate the comment.

As my voice and fingers age I think it may be time to scrathpad my songs a little differently. Time to raise my voice above the guitar more than can be done with just an ambient mic. Isn’t it great to have tech that can solve certain problems?

Always a pleasure, Clint.

It certainly is. All my original songs have made generous use of tech, achieving far more than I could with my limited playing and singing.

For a song designed to convey a message, which this definitely was, I preferred the unplugged version - it sounded great!

Yeah, I preferred your personal version - unplugged and personal.

Your comment about the message of the song is greatly appreciated. Often times the message gets overshadowed by comments about what someone is wearing, the color of the guitar, the mix, or whether or not they smiled. Thanks for opening the window and letting in some fresh air.

I enjoyed both versions Clint but felt the song’s message comes across more clearly in the ‘real’ version which conveys much more feeling and connection to the song.
AI is clever stuff though.

Thanks for the comments and points well taken.
My days of ambient mics and iPhone video are over for the most part. The ramping up of the studio is in progress.

That’s always going to be sweet news. Are you talking ‘real’ or ‘virtual’?
I know you like hardware (guitars/pedals & amps) but have also been delving into the ‘software of sounds’ recently. Both have their place. Just curious

@pkboo3 & @sairfingers , thanks for the listen and comments!
