Open Mic 008 - Call for interest

I’m going to stay with 1 song for now. Even though it would make this nervous anticipation more worth it for more songs. I can’t remember the last time I felt this nervous and it’s still only Wednesday.
I will keep practicing, but am probably as good as I am going to get. Never really been one of those people cramming for exams the night before, just trust myself and do the best I can.

1 song is great too and if you feel up to it after the first song you are more than welcome to carry on and play another! :grinning:

A wonderfully productive evening with my daughter, who needs a distraction as up to her neck in Monkey Pock preparation (NHS Emergency Planner). Gtr tone finalised and same with Vox after I decide to put my TC Helicon PlayAcoustic to good use for once. Recordings made, uploaded to YT, shared, discussed, tweaked and she’s signed off on the package. 'Kin hope she’s right but normally is. Tomorrow its record video in Zoom meeting with myself, scary and Friday night record the usual Dry Run in case it all goes tits up in Saturday.

Never been this far ahead ! Mmm why am I worrying ?

Hope peeps rehearsals are going equally well.

Cheers

When we did the “livestream” trial with Justin a year ago, we all talked a lot about nerves, even him. Seems despite him pumping out flawless, nerveless video for us, on the big stage he is bricking it like the rest of us and the bigger the star he was backing to bigger the nerves, as the expectations are that much higher. So you are in good company but as he said at the time, its how you channel that feeling into your performance. Right now I am as cool as the proverbial cucumber come Saturday T-2 hours them bricks will start appearing.
Just be yourself and be cool. You’re just playing with a bunch of mates and there is absolutely no judgement, its all about having a good time.

See you Saturday.

Cheers

Thanks everyone for your support, it is because this is such a supportive community that this is even an option. I know it will be worth it, and nerves are because I care and it is important. A phrase I have used throughout my life about feelings like this - excited and terrified.

lol, some of us mere mortals need to practice

I’ve been practising my song every night. I’ll just be happy if I don’t screw it up. Playing it with the OM setup as well after reading a long time ago (I think from Tony) that it pays to rehearse with the setup you’re going to use on the night, but that was about a real life OM.

Hopefully the grunge fans recognise the song I’ve picked… (no guessing beforehand though )

I just heard about it that this is also starting to get a bit out of hand… good luck with that for her and of course you too,…

And good luck to everyone for tomorrow, I’ll have to check it out later on the site… it’s going to be a busy place here…audience and performers, Cozy and a lot, really a lot of fun to you all  :sunglasses:… and for everyone who ruins their rehearsal today… …a bad rehearsal often means a good performance :sunglasses: :guitar: :microphone: :musical_score:
Greetings

Thanks Rogier. It apparently needs specialist treatment centres of which there are only 7 in the UK. She owns 3.5 of them in the area she is in charge of, so has her hands full. The first UK Covid cases were also on her watch as well. What do they say, out of the frying pan into the fire. Cheered her up with a Tinkerbell vox version for one of the songs I’m singing (can’t post here as lots of naughty words and politics  ) but I’ll be using Spring Reverb on Saturday !!

JK equally valid for our little soirees. If you rehearse/practice how you are going to perform, there are no surprises on the night/day. Especially for balance between guitar and vocals. Open up a Zoom meeting and use the record facility to video your practice. Then fine tune any issues or things you are not happy with. Shout if you need help.

Cheers

And try the remaining 49 Ableton reverb settings I haven’t tested yet
