Thanks for the positive feedback Eric; I too take a lot from the JGC members’ support and encouragement.
Both your performances were really good … and being able to vary your VOM performances between acoustic guitar and electric is quite impressive: your solo playing was solid too … .
With my limited experience I have my work cut out learning on the Acoustic, although happy with that.
I “discovered” finger-picking this year and it has really helped to keep me motivated … to the extent that I am happy to try strumming again; which got to the point of becoming demoralising during latter half of last year, (Yr. 2) .
I guess it’s “horses for courses”; whatever makes us want to pick up a guitar, is a good thing.
Thank you Eric, we are pleased you enjoy our efforts. Even though my technical prowess leaves a lot to be desired, we do enjoy these events and always look forward to seeing what the other performers come up with. See you at the next one.
Hi Colin , always nice to get encouraging feedback from a fellow guitar traveller.
I am with you on this. I love the variety and learning different styles.
I am even working on some nylon string classical style pieces and DADGAD tuning style in addition to the acoustic and electric styles I have been doing at OM. Maybe one time I will bring one of these to the OM.
I also feel more at home with finger style, strumming I thought would be easier and in some ways it is but to get pleasing sounding dynamics I find difficult. I have been experimenting with lighter picks sometimes and I am seeing some progress. I also noticed a few performers in the last OM strummed with fingers and it sounded great. I should look into that.
