Open Mic 30 Recording & After-Show Chat

Another great show and our 30th !! Would have thought we still be going from those early steps back in March 2021.

Thank you to all performers and audience for your support.

An entertaining show today, well done to all the performers.

I think it was one new performer today? Would be great to see a few newer performers as well, even guitar newbies once they’re at the point they’re keen to perform.

And thank you especially to @TheMadman_tobyjenner and @DavidP for organising and MCing the show.

Thank you, @TheMadman_tobyjenner for all the organisation, and @DavidP for hosting the event!

And a shoutout to @Boris1565 for your great debut!

Ok, to you and all the others who missed the event and will watch the recording - better wind forward when my turn comes.

I think I never did so badly before. The good thing is, I am quite a bit more relaxed than on my first OM now and could internally laugh about myself while failing - and - I now started an OM plan with attention to all the fields that went wrong before and which I have to improve on. Good thing is when you learn out of failures.
And the missing cable for that audio interface was neatly intertwined with the power supply cable of the notebook. That’s why I couldn’t find it wherever I searched.
I will think about some other, better setup anyway.

I just can t wait to see the video ^^

Thank you, Dominique.
You were good, you kept on and finished. The apparent technical issues made things difficult for you.

I would just like to thank David and Toby for hoisting another Open Mic night, and to all who participated in performers and audience, I am fairly new to these events but as a guitar player and teacher I know how valuable these nights can be to anybody wishing to push themselves into live performances, so again well done to all cheers Hec

Hi Dom, definately not mate, I have enjoyed what I’ve seen of yours in the past and a few hiccups when playing live is all par for the course mate.

@DeltaTyne Thanks very much, Hec. Much appreciated, and I consider it a privelige to be able to support and contribute to the Community, a Community that has given me so much in so many ways in the 8 years I’ve been involved.

Oh man, I was only half me
Rewatching made me start to sweat
But with such a friendly audience and you David in your always positive and calm way, there’s no need to be stressed!

Now all the editing and balancing is out of the way, I’ll take a leisurely look at everyone’s performance. Not always easy to do on the night when looking after the spotlighting and muting the odd folk who forget to turn their mics off and of course, trying to sneak in last minute run throughs, while other folk are playing - which up to now has always been muted. . . . one day maybe not :scream:

Once again thanks for all the “thanks”, as @DavidP said, it is always a pleasure to help get these gigs set up and be part of the back room team on the night. It was good to be back. But also a shout out to those not so visible either side of show time. @jkahn for hoisting the video onto YouTube after I finished the editing and @Richard_close2u who made sure the post was updated with both video and chat.

Just a couple of comment with what I have watched in earnest, great debut from Boris with a smooth take on a BB classic - love playing that intro - and well done to DOM for stepping up to the plate, despite last minute glitches that would have added to the nerve. You had a good go at it and should be proud of that, keep doing what you are doing.

Overall some good performances but I look forward to a relaxed watch later today.

So that’s why you appeared in the meeting right after the OM finished for about 10 seconds! It all makes sense now :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:!

Thank you everybody for playing and organising, it was a fun evening full of classics! Looking forward to the next one!

Hello,

had this open mic as background while doing some Excel numbers at work…

Really great sessions. Few times I put down Excel just o watch and enjoy your all playing.
I would like to really thank you all equally for doing this. If you all make live concert together, I would go there.

I really like energy, vibe and cuteness of father and daughter (hope I found it right) of Mal and Lara. I can imagine you playing on some evening outside action with good drink.

What a lovely introduction from Boris… such a smooth come to the stage and sweet notes. I wonder if you are Justins blues student and you know it from here or?

Ruaridh great fingerstyle.

Dom only thing next time I would like to see “more of you” so I can watch both hands what you are doing. But it did not make less on your performance, I like your playing. Great!
