PS
@jkahn
I’m so sorry that I needed to leave. I caught 30 seconds of Black Keys boogie and eagerly await the recording for the rest.

Great OM,
What stood out for me was that across the range of technical abilities from intermediate to pro-level, there was a common thread of relaxed, confident , rhythmic performances, all enjoyable to watch as an audience member.

@Jonjdarcy Only a pleasure Jon

The video and chat have now been added to the first post.

My thanks and appreciation to @jkahn for that and to @Richard_close2u and @TheMadman_tobyjenner for their co-hosting to help us maintain the smooth running flow of the show.

Wow! Congratulations to all performers! I listened today to the recording and I must agree with Deborah @GrumpyMac when she says the level was pretty high. More than that I much enjoyed to see you all playing and singing and acknowledge how much you’ve been growing in these past few years I’ve been knowing you here in the Community :green_heart:

Thanks for hosting a wonderful event. My first song was kinda not the best. My hands were sweating and the guitar didn’t sound great. My second song was memorable though and I appreciated all the positive comments from the group. I forgot how fun these open mics are so thank you everyone.

Thanks again for another great show to all involved. Big thanks to our folks behind the scenes that enable these events, making the recording available and for excellent hosting: David, Richard, JK and Toby!

And thanks to all who stepped up the stage again. It was an enormous pleasure to see some familiar faces back up there after some break time. Glad to have you back!

I completely second what Deborah said: The level of playing was high and all performances were most enjoyable. Also some nice surprises along the way with regards to song choice. It’s always fun to see what you folks come up with.

Eric, please give your dog a cuddle from me, what a cutie!

@Beatup6String I was looking through the chat and saw your question.
“Did you build all the guitars on the wall Mark?”
I built the three in the middle, a resonator and two acoustics. I also built the one that I played in the open mic.

What a good event. Thank you to @DavidP for running the night, @Richard_close2u for arranging it this time and @TheMadman_tobyjenner for his ongoing contributions.

A couple of callouts from me… I could call everyone out for doing well, but some specific ones.

@Alexeyd for his true masterly playing - a top 0.001% guitarist performing for us, and humbly encouraging others. (Everyone else - don’t be put off by playing on the same night as such a legend).

@LievenDV for his amazing Cornell-esque performance. Love what you do with your guitar and voice.

@SDKissFan for his energy packed Linkin Park cover. Jeff, I know how you’ve struggled with rhythm and gave up for a while. The best performance I’ve ever seen you do. It shows you have it in you, even with rhythm being tough for you. Keep working at it!

I had a couple of questions in the chat about my pedal setup and comments on tone. I obviously care about tone a lot - no I don’t endlessly obsess about it, but some basic work on it makes a big difference.

Here are the pedal chains I set up on my modeller. Obviously different EQ tweaks on the amps for each guitar as well.

Gold on the Ceiling model was Compressor → “Royal Tone” pedal (based on the Prince of Tone pedal) set to high gain → Fender Super Reverb amp → Large Room Reverb.

My Friends model was Fender Deluxe Reverb amp → Large Room Reverb. With a Tube Screamer to mash for the solo bit.

Hi All,

I just love watching these and this one was somewhat of a real treat I thought.

As mentioned by others thanks to everyone for making these possible :folded_hands: great effort. (Can’t mention you all I only 10 mentions total:roll_eyes:)

Huge shout out to all performers, it was truly quite an enjoyable overall gig with a really good range of music.

A few mentions (just because I can’t help myself)

Great to see some newer faces in the line up even if not new members,

@metramaks great opening and nice solid performance to kick off well done mate :+1:

@Alexeyd man, there’s really nothing I need to say but I’m just glad you are part of this community and we get to hear your work. I loved that second piece and was truly quite in awe of your fingerwork and pickwork👌

@LievenDV man, great to see you performing for us. Absolutely love that song and what a great rendition. Your vocal sound was mint :ok_hand::ok_hand:. I’ be interested to know what fx you had dialled in on the vocal?

@Boris1565 wow, great work and great to something from this genre, excellent job on both :+1:

@Jonjdarcy Jon, solid work mate well done. So good with all you guys mixing up genres and electric/acoustic works👌

@eric.lennon hey man, great to see you back :+1: 2 great songs well performed and that Bread track took me right back to my youth, I remember it well:ok_hand: good choice, well played and great guitar sound.

@Jeff JK said it best. Definately seeing the persistence paying of mate, that Lincoln Park was sweet :ok_hand:

And then there’s @jkahn , great to see a performance from you mate. Love the work on the electric that nice slide finish brought a big smile to my face :+1:. The Maton was looking great, and sounding wicked. I was never a bigh RHCP fan but do like some and really enjoyed this one. The sound was soooooo good and thanks for the info on the sound setup. I’ll be doing some googling on that unit. Well done mate, hope we see some regular appearances.

Just great work everyone :call_me_hand:
