Felt like I wanted to try to learn something new to take my mind off stuff, so I spent about 15 minutes each on Justin’s video lessons of Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Good Riddance Time of Your Life.
Both accopaniments are very recognisable (and as Eddie @Eddie_09 says, titles not necessary). Boulevard of Broken Dreams had better dynamicss and you seemed more comfortable with that one. Both well played.
I take it your in the Eastern States. I think these are great songs and both on my list that I play, (although I’m pretty sure you play them better than me ). I especially enjoyed Boulevard, but happily sat and sang all the way through both of those, well done, really enjoyed it mate
Two songs of my favourite band, and you’ve played them so very well, Paul.
I enjoyed both performances a lot, I liked the strumming, the dynamics, timing, the sound of your guitar and that you really seem to enjoy playing these lovely tunes. It has been a treat to listen to both songs, and for me it is a huge motivation, because I’m working on them too (struggling with power chords at the moment ).
I wish I could play these songs at least half as well as you.
And you even cared about the details and started “Good Riddance” with the full “messed-up” intro!
I liked that a lot and it made me smile instantly
Maybe you’ll have the chance to hear these awesome songs played live in a few days? I guess Green Day are touring Australia in March.
Thanks so much for sharing your great performance and keep up the great work
Paul, both songs sound good and recognizable with clear strumming and good dynamics. I enjoyed the Boulevard of Broken Dreams the best, since you seemed to be a little mire relaxed and the strumming was a little more precise. Maybe I am wrong, but the Good Riddance Time of Your Life sounded just a little faster than the original, but it still sounded good good.
Here’s a couple of my attempts at Wish You Were Here. I’ve been learning and practicing this on and off for a bit over a year.
The one with the video was recorded on my phone - audio and video.
The one without the video I recorded a while ago using a Focusrite 2i2 and Reaper. I recorded the chords first, then played it back and recorded the intro solo over the top as a second track. I haven’t worked out how to record the video and audio and combine them yet. Maybe one day.
The video performance is slightly better: the variations in dynamis are fare clearer on that. I could hear the shape of the song really well: next step perhaps add a vocal? Really enjoyed both versions.
