Roger's rock on wheels

Likewise… last time that happened to me I bought replacement ear pads. It was quite simple to change them and it cost about £10.

Good idea to go outside, but here, it’s cold and rainy!
My sister was only viewable in tv as a tiny dot from helicopter view and she said she was disappointed about waiting long and then everyone passing in a few seconds even if they had a little slope where they stood.

Yes, mostly they can be bought and replaced, but Rogier had the headband breaking too and my fellow old great sounding Philips headphones (with fabric earpads 20+ years old) has a broken joint from when my son was a little younger and too curious about material strength. Argh! So now, I’m covered in any of these cases.

Oups… I misstated something: mine is a Beyerdynamic, not AKG.
I think that there’s all of the parts available for replacement.

It was something like this that I used. I think they do headbands as well.

Not quite on my door step this year but to be honest I have not been following for a couple of years now. It skipped from Vire (about am hour away) to St Malo (45 minutes)
and the route out of St M, within easy reach, was pretty unspectacular. I’ve about 300 pics on the PC from a few years back, when I visited 4 stages (2 Tours).

The “Caravan” is more interesting to watch, in the run up to the riders approaching.
Then 200+ bike fly past in a matter of seconds !! But worth visiting at least once in a lifetime for the experience !

Roger, your 20 day practice version of Canon in D sounds very good and even great at the beginning. You have advanced so much from the first posting of your playing this long and challenging piece. The amount of practice that you are putting into this puts me to shame  I need to spend more that one week practicing a song

I liked all of your blues studies videos. I am working on Boom Bass with Licks now and hope that I can come close to your rendition some day.

I spent an hour today strolling through your Learning Log entries for this year. It took more time since I had to stop and admire your flowers along the way. You certainly have a flair for gardening and Spring rewards you with a magnificent harvest of flowers.

Congratulations on the new addition to your family. I enjoyed your “original” song of celebration. If you combine with your Hendrix-like licks then you can call it “Happy First Third Stone from the Sun Day”.

:joy: :upside_down_face: Yes, we talked about this more somewhere above… 1 wrong big sip of your beer/wine/water and you’ve missed the whole bunch …
Aja Toby, that’s quite a distance…45 minutes drive and I’m across the border from Arnhem in Germany…

I had my long breaks a while ago … now it is a wonderful background event and especially in the Netherlands on radio 1 “Radio tour de France” a nice varied program and easy to follow and if you miss an hour or 2 you have not missed anything … and which contributes to a sublime summer feeling …at least you saw 4 :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Well the headband was not broken, but the rubber/plastic/fake leather had also started to peel there… and also not replaceable, just like the ear cups…

mine are a bit more expensive to replace, but certainly better than buying new ones again…how dare they …I think mine lasted less than once every 3 weeks for a maximum of 5 years ( got them about 8 years ago )

it was in my comparison list at Thomann, it was on sale and therefore won ,it was in my comparison list at Thomann, it was on sale and therefore won …saved me even more longer thinking…

Greetings

What incredibly kind words that I read with great pleasure just now with my wife at the breakfast table :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

never forget that I have been working on the fingerstyle for a while and have put many hours a day into this piece, and the beginning always goes quickly for me, and then comes the hard work… hell, I haven’t played the guitar for 9 days now due to severe infections in my hands for the first time in 6 years… enjoying the "good life "a little too much (eating out in restaurants and sitting on the terrace…ice creams and soft drinks throughout the day and so on) and that together with bad sleep nights due to the heat combined with some hustle and bustle on other things… pfff tough times without a guitar …

But like this at 3/4 quarter?? In this guitar project I am very curious to know what effect such a pause has… :crossed_fingers:

Also thanks for listening to the blues studies and even if you only have half the pleasure of what I had and still have, then a wonderful time awaits you…

I cannot be blamed for that :joy:
Thanks

Thank you again …and what a good idea…spicing up that song with some Hendrix stuff

Have a good day and thank for your specific comment about so much :grinning_face_with_big_eyes: :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: :sun:

Hi Rogier, sorry I’m late to the party. Hope your hands are better by now.

Anyhow, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading your Rock on Wheels and listening to your catchy blues licks. You certainly make good use of your black magic decapitated woman. That phrase made me laugh, so thanks for that!

I also appreciate your garden and wildlife pics. We live on the coast of Maine in the US in a somewhat remote place that’s almost like a wildlife refuge. We’ve got a herring gull my wife named Rodney who’s adopted us and will hang out on the deck balustrade all day. He’s acquired a taste for peanuts, which we feed to the grey squirrels. Speaking of which, we’ve just been watching two young grey squirrels playing tag. They’re extremely entertaining.

Anyhow, back to music . . . I’ve just listened to your Canon in D, which is Pachelbel’s Canon, so I thought I’d leave you with this just in case you haven’t heard it before.

Hi Jonathan @Twin_Six

Thank you very much for your comments :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

Yes my hands are almost better and good enough for 2 times 30 minutes play a day the last days
I’m glad I don’t need my knees and ankles when playing (I’ve only been doing rhythm tapping with my foot for a short time and can now do without it, I move a little more along with my body to the beat till I can use the rest a bit again )

it sounds like a piece of paradise where you live… and something we always say to each other when we are out in the woods is “where are the squirrels” we see very little of them, but oh how cute those creatures are…

Nice, such a “house seagull”

Ha ha that video, so recognizable with the cello… even though I was one of those children who was even jealous of that friend with the cello … I just didn’t like the two children playing the violin (but this had to do with their level :hear_no_evil_monkey:)

Greetings :sun:

This morning I woke up with this tune in my head and thought about this performance where a cello indeed plays a beautiful role…

Canon in D (Pachelbel’s Canon) - Cello & Piano [BEST WEDDING VERSION]

Have fun :sun:

Rogier, that’s fantastic! The cello has a lead part, not just the same notes over and over. Anyhow, I’m impressed that you can play this on guitar.

Hi Silvia @Silvia80

Thank you and good to hear from you …
Played three times for about half an hour each time yesterday :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: …it almost feels like I’m back again…almost but soon completely… :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

Yes, that music is so sweet

Pssss @Helen0609 I don’t want to “disrupt” or put too much pressure on you, but I hope the guitar playing continues and you are not in a to bad shape :crossed_fingers:

Still missing a few more regular guests, but will ask now and then very sporadically…such as to ,please ignore me if you are busy when you’re busy or whatever, but you were here so often and I just say hello @franzek

Just a pic from last week ,2 pigeons that were "working " on my fence to create new pigeons

Greetings and all the best from Holland

Wow, Rogier.

Thanks really so much for thinking of me, especially after all this time. It means a lot for me, and I feel quite touched. The thing is, the center of my universe was taken away from me, all of a sudden. It’s already some time ago when this happened. It’s still hard, but I feel a bit better. I’m not looking for sympathy - I’m writing this just to explain why I visit the forum with it’s wonderful people only sporadically. I still play guitar though. Mostly one or two songs only, to not loose the skills. I might continue with the learning path at a later time. Time will tell.

Thanks for the

again, back in December, it just arrived at the right time.

Hi Rogier, like Franz, I’m really touched by your call out :green_heart:.
No good news here either, I had a major stroke of fate a few weeks ago and it’s getting even worse (not healthwise) until yesterday, when a real nightmare finally became true.
My life is upside down, I’m shattered into pieces. I can’t play anymore since weeks now. I simply feel nothing, when I touch my guitars
Hope to be back soon!

@franzek I’m so sorry to read this!
Sending you my best wishes!

I’m just reading and absorbing this with my wife next to me and I’m feeling a bit upset.
We both had goosebumps of misery…
I asked about you and I am glad that you two appreciate it so much. It is often nice when people think of you and miss you, you have been around for some years and therefore often in my head.

Franz ,you are not looking for sympathy, but here I want to give it, I can’t imagine the pain…I get a little rest because you say that things are a little better now ,
Continue calmly slow and good to read that the guitar is still present .
:people_hugging: :mending_heart:

Andrea ,
Now I have to type something but I have a tear in my eye…and I’m at a loss for words…as if you hadn’t been through enough already???
:mending_heart:

We keep in touch …please keep in touch

Thank you Rogier for your warm words, I really appreciate it that you and your wife are caring so much. I plan to give myself plenty of time. We’ll for sure stay in touch! :people_hugging:

(For the records I’ve sent Andrea a PM - thinking of you Andrea!)
