Dominique, HBs came up recently in this post about 335 style guitars. It should have the information you are looking for and some suggestions.

Maybe this one is good for helping?
I have a PRS vela semi Hollow myself, but I don’t know if that falls under medium for you
Greetings,Rogier
Check out Hagstrom Viking. (ES-335 style)
I’m very happy with mine (after a proper set up)
As far as price, you need to be more specific than “medium budget.” Medium would mean different things to different people.
My first electric was a Squire Telecaster Thinline Classic Vibe . It’s a really solid guitar, no complaiints about build quality or tone. I don’t play it a ton because I’ve discovered I like thicker necks.
Since it’s at the end of the thread Toby Jenner linked, I’ll quote my response from that here:
It’s not a 335-alike but it’s a really nice semi-hollow.
I own a Epiphone Sheraton, awesome guitar.
That looks to be about the same price range as my PRS SE Hollowbody Standard.
I’ve had it for about 2 months now and couldn’t be happier with it. It has the Seymour Duncan Jazz pickup on the neck and their 59 on the bridge, both humbuckers.
I’ve tried many electrics over the years, this is my 5th and it’s the first that’s given me the clean jazzy blues sound that I was looking for all along. With the previous electrics, the sound just didn’t do enough for me to want to pick them up and play them whereas this one has been getting played daily for an hour or more.
I have an Epiphone ES339 P90 Pro whichnis what I currently play most often. I think it’s a great value for the money and I prefer the smaller size compared to the 335.
I tried many semi hollows in the last few months of many different brands in a couple of large music shops and got to compare them directly. The Ibanez models came out consistently better than the others for both playability and sound. However this is all very subjective. Someone mentioned the Ibanez AS93 and it was the super 58 pickups in that which sounded the best to me and way above the Epiphones. Better finished too. I had my heart set on an Epiphone Sheraton 2 pro until I tried it side by side with the Ibanez. However it’s highly subjective to the environment you are in and the amp you are playing through.
I suggest a PRS, they’re really beautiful, I almost got one myself.
There are all kinds of pickup configurations, you’ll find something you like.
Hi Dominique
I have a Gibson ES335 which was a big treat late 2024, a dream guitar for me, higher end price but I managed to negotiate a £700 discount a New Old stock Item, and the large guitar store likes to move stock on every year to bring in new. At the time in the same store I also played a Gretsch, and an Epiphone. Both sounded good and I could have probably lived with either, however I did prefer the tone of the Gibson, whether it’s down to pickups, build or that particular guitar who knows.
On another note I used to own an Ibanez JSM100 over 20 years ago and used on a 2 year Music course playing Blues, Pop/rock and Jazz, and when I had a break from playing I stupidly sold it. A beautiful guitar great for Blues or Jazz, you could use one for rock with the right pedals as well. They do a cheaper version IBANEZ JSM10EM JOHN SCHOFIELD SIGNATURE GUITAR IN TWO TONE BURST for around which IMO is great value for money. and another with better Machine Heads etc
Good suggestion, with a minor caveat: as it happens I recently bought a PRS S2 Special semi-hollow and I also own a vintage Gibson ES-335 12-string. Both are wonderful guitars but they are also quite different as semi-hollows. I think my Ibanez Artcore Expressionist feels much closer to the ES-335 than the PRS. That said, Sweetwater has a number of PRS SE semi-hollow models for around $1K USD, which probably fits the OP’s notion of “medium” budget and might suit them well.
