Iāve been considering a PRS for a while and these S2 Specials with reclaimed wood really caught my attention. Iāve spent an hour or so with it so far and it feels and sounds great. Iām looking forward to getting into the music room running through the Katana. Right now Iād envision this as my last guitar purchase as Iāve got a versatile group of instruments and rack space limitations are becoming very real; can you say wall hanger? ![]()
Enjoy! I got a PRS for myself for my birthday this summer, and itās become my favorite guitar. So playable right out of the box!
Alright, enjoy that honeymoon ![]()
Very tasty.
Happy ngd.

Hi David,
Happy NGD
![]()
That looks amazing ,I wish you a lot of time together ![]()
I often think about the time 6 years ago of having my first PRS in my hands and making it my 2nd PRS now
(but it was so expensive that I still canāt justify it to myself today)
Greetings

But this being your last one⦠yeah right⦠Weāve all been thereā¦
Happy NGD David!

I love that guitar manufacturers are paying attention to their supply chain this way and more and more are seeking to use more responsible sourcing.
I saw when this guitar was announced and liked it right away (especially since the finish doesnāt hide the wood). That said, the particular source of wood they chose for it didnāt āspeakā to me. I had something else in mind and decided to build it. Itās my birthday/christmas/cancerversary present to myself.
Very nice, happy NGD!
Lovely guitar David, enjoy your time together.
I love natural finishes and most of my guitars show their wood grain. Iām especially fond of my Ibanez zebrawood semi-hollow. Iāve only built one guitar, from a StewMac kit, and TBH my MechE wife did a lot of work, particularly on the finish. Having done it once Iām in the mode of āwould rather play a guitar than build oneā. Iām also now curious what sources do speak to you and what you have / are planning to build.
@TheCluelessLuthier & @GrytPipe There are others that do call to me. I recently played a Danelectro at my local store and would happily have one in their super cool (to me) orange flake finish. But Iām not a performer and I really do have a nice versatile collection of instruments, meaning thereās no need. So I (mostly) expect to be able to hold the line. OTOH my wife is nicely supportive so nothing is certain. And I understand the number of guitars you need is āone more than you currently ownā. ![]()
Its a beautiful guitar
I hope you ll record something to allow us to hear how it sounds
Happy NGD ![]()
@dlemire60 , that looks really nice! I noticed that the neck humbucker is installed ābackwardsā, like the Peter Green Les Paul. Very interesting!
Itās one of those intensely personal things, right? As for me, I have a general interest in local materials, sustainable forestry/sourcing (which is why the reclaimed wood aspect of this PRS interests me), and something with a story/history. For this guitar Iām building, Iāve covered the local materials and the story aspects of my interests. And for this, I was really focused on the story of how Helene impacted my area last year.
Iāve got a build thread going for my guitar over here:
Ah. Iād noticed that thread but havenāt really dived into it. Iāll take a closer look.
Happy NGD David!!!
That PRS is certainly beautiful!!! Iām looking forward to hearing you play it for the Community!!! Iām hoping that you truly enjoy the tones youāll get & that you love the fabulous PRS playability!!!
So sorry to hear this⦠I waffled for too long⦠had a zebrawood Ibanez in my wishlist at Musicianās Friend for about a year after seeing you play yours. Finally decided to get one only to find that theyāve been discontinued⦠total bummer!
Then, I see you have a new guitar!!!
Hate to admit it but my 1st thought wasnāt being happy for youā¦
No, my FIRST THOUGHT was āMaybe David is going to sell the Ibanez!!!ā ![]()
So sorry, I should have just been really happy for a fellow Community member!
BUTā¦
Any chance that you ARE thinking of selling???
![]()
At any rateā¦
Congratulations, David & Merry (early) Christmas!!! ![]()

Iām hate to disappoint but, no, that one is definitely not going on the auction block. Iāve no idea how readily you could find a used one. I bought that one from my local music store 5 years ago and felt fortunate they had one I could try out. I think I was at it an hour or so before I realized how much time I spent (that was the same trip where the Katana amp came home).
ATM Iāve got a half-dozen 6-string electrics and no real thought to sell any of them. I know many people buy and sell guitars frequently but thatās never really been my thing.
Stunning guitar! Enjoy!
Iām completely sympathetic David. Iāve never sold a guitar yet⦠given a couple away to family members⦠one fell over & broke the neck (more expensive to get it fixed than I paid for it) but I think of each guitar as my child & have a very hard time even considering selling one!
My wife has hinted that I have a gift coming that doesnāt fit under the Christmas tree
⦠but Iām pretty certain that itās not going to be a zebra
wood Ibanez!!! Sheās seen me checking out ES-335s & ES-355s so I will have to wait & see I guess!!!
If you ever change your mind, hit me up!
