Your classical journey progresses really well and it is always a pleasure to watch and listen to your playing. So much dedication and, even more so, you seem to be so happy and satisfied while playing, I can feel it swapping over.
Also the other parts seem to come along nicely. Good luck with the steady thumb blues. This will be a great picking hand work out.
Gorgeous playing as always, Silvia! You seem so comfortable and relaxed in your playing, I could listen all day! Been doing a quick catch up on your recent thread posts, fascinating to read what you’ve been up to and working on. Thanks for sharing!
Beautifully played Sylvia, I enjoyed that a lot. Great LL update too. Ben fatto continua cosi.
I came home yesterday after a 2 week holiday in Lucca. Beautiful city. My wife and I went to several recitals whilst there, piano, flute, violin, but no guitar unfortunately. Lots of Puccini of course but some Bach too.
@Lisa_S@TheMadman_tobyjenner thank you, I much appreciate your support and I’m very happy you find my LL enjoyable Lisa…I hope you and little treasure are well!
Hey Jeff, that’s so nice of you to check my log and my recording! I hope to find sometime to catch up with your journey too…but I need to switch to the rock and metal attitude…which is something that actually happens on its own naturally, so that I can enjoy your recordings!
Well (some challenges still to overcome but) …I’m aiming to be! Thank you so much for …when I play I try to keep in mind this:
“To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable. ” ― Ludwig van Beethoven.
Lucca is lovely! It’s not very far from where I live, about 1 hour and a half by car! I would have been happy to shake hands if I knew! We used to go very often when we bought our house and we found there quite a lot of bargains in the Antiques market they make monthly…I hope you had the chance to see the market as well. We often go at Christmas time as well. I hope you enjoyed your holiday and the recitals!
Thanks so much for checking in, Silvia! We are doing good so far. But I do notice the due date getting closer each day as there are first contractions going on.
Yes it was really great. Apart from your funny 3 pins in a row electric sockets. I didn’t have the correct adaptors. Fortunately there was one other socket in the apartment that I had an adaptor for.
That’s so funny Silvia. Or maybe I’ll think that you are human after all and do find somethings so challenging that they limit the smiles for a brief moment
A song that was written back in 1925 and tells about emigration and about moving and living in a foreign country and how much one misses his/her own land. The song was originally written in our local dialect from Genova and has been interpreted by the greatest italian artists, Mina included. Now in 2017 this artist made an english version that is quite faithful to the original and it’s even more touching! The problem is that since I found it out it interferes with my strumming plans because this version will be better arranged with fingerstyle…so now I have a double plan: strumming for the original song and fingerpicking for the english version…and not much time for practicing both
Silvia, I went back in your log to listen to your performances of Leyenda (Asturias) and Malagueña. They were both wonderfully done as usual. I can tell that you have spent much practice on these pieces. I particularly like the clarity of your picked notes, which comes from much practice on technique. I recently recorded my version of Leyenda and was immediately struck by the tone issues with notes on the 6th string. I will have to follow your example and slow down as I listen to the tone of each note in the bass notes as I play them…
I am alway interested to hear your latest posts so keep making progress and have fun.
Fascinating how these two versions have such a different character.
I can understand why you decided to invest time into both, the melancholic Francess one (wow, she has a good voice, gotta check some more songs) and the dialect original that sounds at the outset a bit more cheerful, but is because of this still much more bittersweet.
Can you believe my 4 and 5 yo pupils ask me, almost everyday to listen to Rachmaninoff’ s Prelude in C Sharp? Well to tell it all they ask to listen to the Dinosaurs , which is pretty much the same … and they love to make hiding places to escape
Looks like a clean break Sylvia. Drill out and replace the wooden dowel that is broken, clean out any old adhesive in the holes where the wooden dowels go. Some wood adhesive and a clamp to hold it while it dries overnight should do the trick.
Haha yes it is rather a scary piece of music if you’re imagining a T Rex chasing you.
