I’ve got other three Ukes…these little things are already hard to keep in tune when new so it’s already in the garbage I need to add that the tuning pegs were not doing their job properly since a while already…
Hi Silvia,
The first thing I read this morning…priceless
And now I’m also listening to it , with a coughing and having the flu(so it seems now) home sitting woman asking…“does that have to be so hard” I say "it’s from the Italian girl ,which I have to listen to from her "
After which she shouts…those ladies from the forum aren’t getting more attention and hearts than me today, are they?
so today I will have to share the computer every now and then, that is the disadvantage of having a successful business of my own, fortunately she has a business partner and I can always claim my time on the laptop in between.
Greetings
Hi Rogier I hope your flu is getting better, I also had one a couple of weeks ago, felt bad but only for 2 days
That’s i absolutely true they also ask to listen to “Aunt Fa”, which stands for Bach 's Badinerie
I’m sure she’s an incredibile woman from how you refer to her and must be very patient too with all those guitars around you
I saw there’s some update on your Log…check and write back to you soon!
Greetings
Hi Silvia good morning …
I wasn’t clear i see and I also see a typo made by me… She has a business and even had to work a little ( very little) while she had a fever…and luckely only 2 days as it seems now with between 38 and 39.3 c …I brought the laptop to the couch every time I quickly typed something here or read something on a large screen…don`t like reading on the phone… on the couch where she was lying and there she only did some prior emails and to her fellow companion typing what he could take over…And I was good boy , everything making so smoothly as possible and make fruit bowls and other food things with tea…
And this morning she looks a lot fresher when I left her upstairs
Yes she is absolutely, and she is also incredibly happy for me that I found this here…
Thank you and “see” you later
Hihihihihihi I’m so happy I have to share!!!
I’ve just worked out by ear a few phrases from contemporary composer Maria Linneman’ S Canzone d’amore melody line!
The […] is where the melody gets more articulated and I didn’t make any attempts and I restarted from where my ear knew exactly what it was hearing
Isn’t it most beautiful? …why there’s no emoji with the ears shaped like hearts btw?
This very week her book Suite for Lovers is coming from Amazon…I need not to have a look and try to work it all out by ear, it’s not much long.
It’s still much advanced for me to play but ooohhh I can listen one hundred times in a row and just be happy with this for the moment
Silvia
Bravo! Encore!
Musicality sings out in every note. Astonishing how much you have worked out: more so your superb rendition of the piece.
Encore! Bravo!
Brian
Silvia
Apologies for that. I’m sure you’ll earn heaps of praise for your performance in due course so take mine in advance!

THE STEADY THUMB BLUES PRIMER
I knew I would make it! The position of the right hand is completely different from the Classical guitar and that required some exploring; once more the posture issue popped out and that is really more complex than you can imagine. Anyway this Blues is fun and I’ll start working on the complete arrangement right this week. Here’s the video, again…I’m very happy and grateful it was received with so much warmth!
CLASSICAL GUITAR
I didn’t want to neglect it while learning the Blues, so I decided to make an opportunity out of it. I decided, as you can imagine, not to learn anything new and while I thought I would revisit pieces I actually spent a lot of time on technique, I introduced the rest stroke in my routine, I tried to be brave and raise the bpm in my alternated picking working on short 1 minute chunks: speed is not easy, but if I don’t try and start training my fingers I’ll never get to it. I started practicing my C maj and G maj Scales holding down the root note of the chord all the time while ascending and descending the scale. I practiced a little chord melody arrangement I had made a while ago working on this aspect of reaching the notes of the scale smoothly, also by accompany the chord change using the all hand and avoiding to have ring finger swearing at me. And the ice on the cake: just last week I got aware that the position of my thumb while I play the C chord seems really wrong…eh perforce the other fingers can’t be efficent on the fretboard! So it often happens in my guitar journey I feel a bit stupid with my erroneus findings, but at this point I do feel like a real fool! Ahhhh…nevermind …I’m just too happy I found out I have to fix it and start develop a good habit
And…oh uh eh… …I’m making a solo arrangement out of my Duet Nuovo Cinema Paradiso arrangement
PMT and STRUMMING
They go together: I think I’m now ready to record this thing I’ve been working on using triads and thumb strumming…I have no idea if the final product will sound good eventually, it should I had planned to keep on going on the Course but in the end the 6/8 strumming absorbed all my efforts and while I’m aware that with strumming I tend to sabotate my own learning I found a new way of practicing, being aware that it might be wrong, but actually finding myself relaxing in it and enjoying it, I called it Picturing feelings through Strumming patterns…the principle might be totally wrong but the foot taps, the hands motion is decently consistent, and while I do feel the challenge by keeping going I can more and more relax in it…will I eventually learn to strum by feeling?
EAR TRAINING
I still can’t believe the Play what you ear exercise is now turning out to be…quite easy? It used to be so frustrating! I"m cheating a bit though, since I stay only within the 5 frets of the guitar and I use the Scales that I know: if I can hear the melody in my mind (and hum it as well) and I know the key then it"s a done deal! The exception is when I get obsessed and do compulsive listening on a piece like Canzone d’Amore and I sing it in my mind or aloud all the time…there it becomes fulfilling as well to find it on the guitar
THE RHYTHM BOOK
I’ve been working for the second month on chapter 6 and I got from 50 to 100 bpm. Raising the bpm has been much challenging. I’m practicing 15minutes twice a week before getting to work, it became an habit for me. I suspect my brain needs it much!
What else? My Jude has something wrong in the amplification device…I will call a Luthier on Monday and see if he can fix it…my husband says he can’t do much, he already had fixed it once but this time the problem seems different
Hey! What’s going on?
….hang on, let me check….no, the sky is still grey like it’s gonna rain again and the grass is still green like it should be…but Silvia!…you’ve gone all BLUE!!! Are you ill?
Joking aside, that was very nicely played. Great stuff!
I’m intrigued though. My finger picking practice is more off than on and I don’t really have a ‘right hand position’. What is different about your Classical and Blues right hand position?
David… I think you’ve missed something of me: I LOVE THE COLOUR BLUE
If it is any consolation I don’t even have a posture yet, which seems even worse …it’s all about exploring, just find what works!
Your homework to observe and find out…remember it’s all about exploring
I enjoyed that Silvia! You’re a born entertainer!
Well teacher, I can’t hang around here chatting….I have homework to do.
I saw this kind of strap last summer at the Music Education workshop, the Teacher showed us an example of activity while playing and dancing in the circle with the children. Now…let’s see if I can work out something of the kind on my own… lead the activity, playing, singing, dancing and look after the children at the same time…
HahHaha
My Rhythm Tapping Strips are almost ready…I was not sure about the sixteenth notes and I thought to ask them if they were able to say Tiritiri and they did fine, so I asked can you do this? And I tapped on the the table and said out loud Ta Ta Tiritiri Ta…they did fine…then again they did fine on the Tatte Tatte Tiritiri Ta (also tapping the hand on the table) …so I said ok you’re gonna have the sixteenth notes!
These kind of ostinatos work really great for teaching them
I’m making one empty strip for each one of them (5yo) they can bring home and have fun invent their own Rhythms! To complement some activities we’ll do at school.
As regards the Carl Orff instruments…the first attempt wasn’t really much musical
Hi Silvia,
Luckily my girl sits next to me and explains how that guitar strap works (I’m already tired from staring at the guitar all day)…NICE… ( And a bit dangerous for a clumsier person like me )
And then she also sighs wistfully, “I wish I had a teacher like that when I was a kid ”
(here where really mean )
Great to see this all
Greetings
Rogier I’ll try and see what I can do…as I’m quite clumsy myself! And I can’t risk to hurt the children!
Greetings to you and your wife!
Hi Sylvia. I’m assuming each child is fitted with one of those straps which is then attached to their desk to keep them under control.
I think that’s the type of strap Willie Nelson uses on his guitar ‘Trigger’.
Gordon!!!
That’s the type of strap Willie Nelson has always uesed. If it works for him I’m sure it will work for you.
Sorry Gordon didn’t read your post until I had posted.
I’d have thought the strap might damage the guitar at the point where it hooks into the soundhole. Willie doesn’t seem to mind though, he’s also worn a hole in his guitar with strumming!
If Willie was rubbing his fingers on your Lower Bout for 60 years you’d have a hole in it as well.
