Looks like some Byzantium Saturday Night Fever tribute display, I notice the other figures are in the John Travolta pose !! Like the weird museum film ( I don’t recall titles) do they all start jigging to Night Fever or Staying Alive when the doors are locked ?
Ihihihihih… Chord Melody in the making!
And I don’t need my Pentagramma anymore to write down the notes, I can follow the chord progression and working it out kind of instictvely …well, kind of
And I think I’m throwing in a fingerpicking pattern here and there so that the right hand sometimes goes on its own to fill the melody
Quoting myself from the very first post of this LL :
I’m not able to tell if and how much I should really develop my sight-reading skills…I can’t tell why I should and my practice has been a bit boring; but I did my exercises nevertheless because I know that feeling the frets under my fingers and keeping the fingers well aligned are absolutely skills I need to work on and improve as those few notes that don’t ring out clean are really annoying!
Prelude in Em … I still need to work on accents as it sounds I’m playing 8th instead of 16th notes; although I can do it, it doesn’t come straightfoward and I get easily puzzled. This Arpeggio piece made me more and more aware how the metronome is such a precious ally to put anything into place when fingers seem to mess around.
But the best part was revisiting the Allegretto…it’s such a fun and funny little piece!
Strumming
I didn’t practice much but played as much as needed to add a new song to my Campfire list …not sure I’ll find the time to record and share though. I’m very happy that it really didn’t take much to memorise it, where memorising means to me always knowing what chord I should play
Rhythm Book: I completed chapter 7 and brought all the 16th notes figures up to 75bpm - I’m working again only on this in February as I feel I much need it. Ma se ghe pensu : I will Chord Melody: it’s coming along super…sweetly Ear Training: I’m not happy with myself for being ‘lazy’ on this…but arranging a chord melody is ear training as well to some degree
Silvia, bravissimo! I thought that the prelude in Em was beautiful and I really enjoyed the Allegretto. I look forward to when I start learning those pieces.
Very well played: all three pieces sounded good. The skills you are developing in the exercises are definitely helping your confidence and musicality, particularly in the Allegretto. Encore!
I always admired people who can sight-read music. In all my years of piano lessons, this was the one skill I never ever managed to get. So it’s great to see you are working on it and it works out nicely! As for the why, I don’t have an answer either.
The Prelude sounds just fine to my ears and the Allegretto was most enjoyable!
@SteveL_G99 thank you Steve the Allegretto is not in the Method Book, but there’s a free download and a lesson too on Werner website and Youtube. There are a lot of pieces for consolidation, after one finishes Method Book 1 and 2…a couple of books I have purchased.
How do they say? No pain no gain, right? Thanks Brian
Me too, I’m sure it’s an amazing skill…but for the moment I just keep my eyes on the book so that I don’t look at my fingers…I’m not sure we can call that proper practice Thank you Lisa for listening and your always warm support…and a kiss to little Vincent
so good you’re writing this, because I work just a lot to learn to play and sometimes I feel damn tired and nothing seems to work out fine, not even the easiest things. Thank you thank you thank you
Thank you @sairfingers@DavidP Gordon and David for let me know you liked my playing! Big
FEBRUARY UPDATE
…even if it’s already March and I’m late!
This past month:
I didn’t manage to be consistent with my Classical Guitar studies, except for practicing the D Scale keeping the fingers in second position for the first time (being aware of it for the first time) and keep on a finger gym exercise for fingers indipendence, especially on ring and pinky. I did some practice playing reading and trying to keep my fingers well alligned on the fretboard but I should have done more
I’ve been more than consistent in working out my own arrangement of I Will by The Beatles: it’not been super easy but not difficult either, it just required time to develop in me and I’m almost ready to record the whole song, which is short btw and share it. It’s been incredible practice and apart from a couple of short moments of discouragement
and weariness, it’s been making me incredibly happy!
On the Acoustic Guitar I started learning two of Celentano 'songs and started applying the techniques I’m learning in the Fingers Strumming Course, especially the muted hit, that I had started kearning last year but didn’t practice anymore…now I think I’m on my way to nail it and being able to use it consistently, it’s such a cool technique
The Rhythm Book: I did my 30min/week working on the 16th notes figures and guess what? A 3rd month is needed! When it’s about Rhythm I’m really slow on the uptake
And since I really didn’t like the idea of making a LL update without a video here it is a video of me practicing Rhythm I actually decided to record what the 4 16th notes figures sound like so that if I have it a bit more clear in my ear and mind it’ll be easier for me to tap and develop consistency and endurance. You might find of some interest only the 4 first clips and skip the following where it’s just me practicing…if you find I’m not tapping correctly the figures please let me know!
