Some day… ![]()
You have more than a few fans around this place.
you should open a fan club topic ![]()
You all are very kind…I don’t get what have I done so special to deserve all this?
Being yourself.
Oh, I think you were taking us too seriously! ![]()
I mean, I am convinced (though not 100% sure, but only 90% or so
)
that the others see it the way I do:
None of us is seriously asking you to do something you don’t want. It’s more some teasing, but also being aware that you’ve got some pedagogic background (and we all think you’re a great teacher!) and do these chord melody transcriptions really well!
And I think, a person who teaches well could also teach someone else when not being pro, but understanding this very field “just” reasonably well, or at least better than the pupil.
Haha, now I remember - when my mother was a teacher, there was a moment she suddenly had to teach maths and we talked about the subjects always before her lessons, so she was always a bit more advanced than her class ![]()
And Mathieu ( generously
) only mentioned 26/27, in the same vein as we’re waiting for the “Rock Immersion Course” that might come one day, but not soon.
Sorry for writing all this in your learning log!
I’ll leave you to your practicing and posting again…
Yes, Dominique explained really well what I meant. Thank you !!
Hearing about all your interesting chord-melody projects, school projects and classical-style fingerpicking — which is a pretty unique path that no many here has followed — is really inspiring.
Hearing from one student to another student can be fun just like learning log ![]()
Well Michael, I could name “a few” doing just the same ![]()
Oh no, Dominique! I love that my LL sometimes takes the form of a living room with people chatting, just like Rogier’s
…well not exactly…he has such beautiful pictures hanging on the walls @roger_holland and he’s always really patient when sometimes someone gets in without knocking ![]()
![]()
No, I actually didn’t but I was a bit concerned about you perceiving me as someone I’m not…
thank you…you know with this sentence the arrow has reached its target ![]()
![]()
…you’ll be forgiven for

I’ll try to share some more about the learning process and the steps I take to arrange a chord melody…maybe that can be enough to content @math07 @mfeeney0110 and @heckler? Documenting and explaining to peers can be really beneficial for each one of us once a new level of competence has been reached.
Thank you so much Mathieu
I just hope you won’t find it disappointing when you’ll see all the “behind the scenes/toothpick/hard effort/patience/super slow pace” these arrangements of mine are requiring…but I know you’re aware with these aspects of learning…
yes, just being yourself
always smiling and sharing and inspiring and encouraging
I think you must be a good teacher
being aware of what goes into it makes it even more inspiring

I finally got up to date with your learning log! It’s been pretty cool to see your progress. You seem to have become pretty accomplished really quickly! And I loved hearing the little kids singing their hearts out at the singalongs. I’ll look forward to the monthly installments now. ![]()
Also Rogier, I know I’m late to the party but perhaps you could get a broom attachment for the wheelchair? I’m thinking like a bristled valance situation; or maybe more like a snow plough on a train, but with brushes attached. ![]()

I’m going to post some music before I spend the whole week working on brooms and steel wire and whatever else ![]()

Always interested, but to be perfectly honest, I was not intended on imposing on you in any shape of form. If you feel like sharing something at some point, I’ll watch it eagerly, but meanwhile following this log has been both entertaining and has given me insights and ideas to apply on my own journey, and I’m grateful for that Silvia ![]()
Hi Connie (this one name I like very much, since you let us free to choose among a few options)…you deserve a cup and medal for reading all this ![]()

I’m trying to catch up with yours too
and for the moment let me just say you have such a voice of an angel!
Which I’m sure you already are aware of.
Well, I’m not sure but since it’s not up to me to decide a set time in which my skills will be developed I decided not to bother too much. It’s a lifelong journey, I thought better to just enjoying it and trying to make sense of the little frustrations along the way.
I’m pretty convinced that if I’m keeping on going with my strumming journey is mostly thanks to them: they provide concrete tasks, immediate feedback and a break from myself and my mental
…I don’t know how to say this in english, overthinking maybe (with a more negative compulsive aspect to it)…and above all LOADS OF JOY! ![]()
Hi Jasmine
I need to ask: is it you Jazzj042 on Instagram?
You’re writing this in a moment when my present chord melody project is proving so much demanding and committing that I wondered several times already why the heck did I start it at all?! ![]()
The amount of patience required seems too much for me too this time and I’m afraid all this not to be much inspiring…with me not really eager to pick up the guitar for practice
But I did grab it and kept on persisting…
It was much relief listening Justin mentioning discipline in the last Theory Class, saying something like grabbing the guitar even when you’d gladly do something else, probably easier and lighter.
I’m having 2 whole days break in the weekend, both for my fingers and for my brain…I know with some rest and a fresh mind on Mondays I always easily see the previous bar/phrase falling into place so that I can start working on a new one!
I hope I didn’t annoy you too much! Wish you a lovely weekend!
Thank you Claudio! I’ll try to work out something with my next chord melody…not this one I’m working on at the moment for the reasons I wrote in the post right above this one. I need something easier that comes quite intuitively like Can’t help falling in love.
Hey Silvia
yes, that’s me ![]()
I think it’s really good to have a break sometimes and come back rested and fresh. You know what they say about consistency and discipline that your 100% effort looks different every day, sometimes more and sometimes less, and sometimes you just need to have a break. Especially when what you’re doing is demanding so much, it gives your brain a chance to absorb it all and sort it.
It is inspiring.
I’ve been leaving my practice until late in the day but then when I pick up my guitar I’m already tired so I’ve just been doing light practice that I don’t really have to think too much about Unfortunately, it’s been happening a lot lately. You’ve inspired me to get organised with my practice and make more time earlier in the day for it, so I’m motivated to work on new things again ![]()
You would not annoy me at all!
Have a lovely weekend too! ![]()
@Avalon426 Thank you Jasmine, I much appreciate your supportive words ![]()
NOVEMBER UPDATE
Hey everyone…I’ll keep it short this month with a video that says more than 1000 words! I really had a blast at practicing alternating the bass line and learn this Ma che freddo fa song from the 60’…such a fun song to learn! And against any expectation I’m nailing it: so damn fast ![]()

My chord melody project, I’m postponing telling you about my troubles, you’ll see them in the video anyway ![]()
I’m so lucky WYWH is 16th notes too and there’s all the good advice I need there for my chord melody as well
…hihihi
thanks Teacher!
No need to say…it’s practice clips
Any feedback and thoughts or advice much appreciated!
Hi Silvia ,
That is again a nice fun and good update

Decemberrrrrr here you come ![]()
Greetings
is going really well, nice rhythm, beautiful melodic fingerpicking and now I have the melody stuck in my head. Thanks
Nice compilation Silvia and an interesting musical spin on my diary updates, of course with zero verbal waffle !! A good summary of your year in which you make steady and measurable progress. Keep doing what you are doing.
I’ve been considering my usual year end mop up as December is here but there will be no video, just a few words and even less recording reference, as there has only been one this year.
Even though I do not always comment, your LL updates are always a joy to read, something that had been needed in a turbulent year, especially the latter half.
Continua ad andare avanti e continua a sorridere! Giochi con tanto piacere!
