TonewoodAmp 2

So, I took the plunge and purchased the TonewoodAmp 2. I held off on the first one because of the use of batteries. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and I am totally hooked. The rechargeable batterie lasts for far more hours than I will play in a day. The app makes it more convenient and usable. The output to an amp or PA works great. It just makes you want to play.

I spent some time talking to a local musician who was using one at a brewery gig. He loved it. It’s a fascinating product for sure.

Never heard of that amp so just Googled it and the first video that came up was from Justin about that amp posted 4 days ago. Have to watch it.

My wallet is crying… LR Baggs EAS VTC and ToneWood2 on my way. Gonna receive it tomorrow and will drop my little Pioneer asap to store, so they install pick ups.

Can you share your own samples?

Yeah, Mike Dawes has been a huge promoter for it from the beginning.

"My wallet is crying…"

But your ears will by happy!

By samples do you mean recording with/without?

Oh Mark ! This thread is dangerous for my wallet  :joy: :joy: But it does indeed looks really cool !!!

Me too, I’m interested to hear a normal person play the same simple songs with/without the device. As obviously, Mike Dawes can make it sound awesome but I wonder how much difference it would make for a normal guy like me.

I find it funny that you assume that I am a “Normal” person.:rofl: I will try to put something together.

Thank you.
I did not even start, because I need to take guitar to guitar store to put pick ups in my Pioneer… but…

I can see I got my “old” Fender Acoustic with pickups and I checked out that “X spider” cost around 40€, So you can use it on another guitar.

Here comes the tricky part… if I test that it is only magnets without specific system I am gonna 3D model that, print, insert magnets and use it on Fender guitar. :joy::joy::joy: Cost “zero zero nothing”.

Edit: holy molly! Someone already made a model for that! I love 3D printing!

Love it… Half a grand worth of pickups and mini-amp, but a ‘free’ magnet-holder!
Seriously though, congratulations on your new kit and kudos for making the most of what you have
You’ll have that beautiful Furch so well kitted out, you’ll find it difficult to put it down.
Enjoy! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Call me cynical but I don’t think it would make much difference to me. In the hands of Mike Dawes it sounds amazing, I’m no Mike Dawes.

@brianlarsen Another tricky part is waiting for me… standard guitars have 100mm hole size. I think my Pioneer has around 85mm. Lets go. It SHOULD fit.
Dropped my guitar by luthier and it is gonna be ready in the afternoon. I cant wait. I went also to the magnet company and they sold me for few bucks magnets, so I can mess with x brace for Fender too. This weekend is gonna be tough.

I’ve just watched Justin’s video and am sorely tempted.
Finger has been hovering over the pre order button at Andertons who seem to be the only UK stockists.

I got it on! It is strange, but it really sounds like effects are comming from AMP, but it is from body. Now I will mess with frequencies and will spend more time with testing.
But playing something with reverb and then trying to turn it off… it is really addicting even for one note or chord.
