"Under The Milky Way" Sia/The Church Cover

My husband requested this song. He liked it from a car commercial some years back. Sia who is Australian must have been giving homage to the Australian rock band, The Church. It’s a beautiful, dreamy song💫

Beautiful cover of this Sonyal! :star_struck:
I love this song! I used to listen to The Church on repeat ‘back in the day’ :upside_down_face:
I didn’t know Sia did a cover of it though. I’ll have to check that out.

Well done! Congrats!

One thing i’d like to add though is the following: i noticed a very slight pauze in your strumming. (upstrum), during the song.
Allthough i understand where it comes from, i’d strongly suggest to keep your strumminghand moving. Think of it as an engine that doesn’t stop running.

This will help with songs you’ll play later on.

Holy moly Sonyal.

It is a rare and fine day when someone covers and shares a song by The Church.
What a great, multitrack version you have done. Wonderful. Bravo.

The Church have been one of my favourite bands since I first heard them in 1982. They are still together, playing, touring, recording. They’re currently in North America touring - I highly recommend you try to see them. It’s a ‘singles’ tour and they will definitely perform this song.

Thanks Richard! They are new to me but definitely a great song that I’ve enjoyed learning and playing❣️

Thanks for sharing the tour info. They have a date comming up that is nearby but those ticket prices are a little too rich for my blood😁

I love Sia too. Her vocals are incredible! Thanks @pkboo3 !

What a blast from the past! I hadn’t thought of this song (or group) in years. Very nice version, I especially liked the vocal harmonies.

Great work Sonyal, love that song and a fan of a lot of the Church and of course Sia, who definately has an incredible voice.

That was really well done especially with the vocal harmony work. I see you’ve improved all your video work too, nice

I do too. Like Richard, I first heard The Church in 1982. My mother took a holiday in Sydney, and she brought back the sound track to an Australian surfing movie for me:

It included ‘Life Speeds Up’ by The Church. I’m not sure my pressing has exactly the same tracks as listed in discogs. For example, I would have sworn The Sunny Boys’ track was not ‘Tunnel of Love’, but ‘Alone With You’: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRazvQ8Pai0

A few months later I emigrated to Australia and saw The Church at the Manly Vale Hotel. According to their superfan website:

this must have been 5 June 1982 (three days after I arrived), or 17 September 1983.
