We want to see your take on Wish You Were Here!

So no fire extinguisher for you near your fire-hazardous tree??? , I will send a bucket of water from Nijkerk :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

You could have just posted “something” level 1
Oh well, what the odds really … but it was all about the fun that this action/challenge certainly brought :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
And as a fantastic bonus, I learned a lot about myself in this short time  :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Greetings :sunflower:
And nice to “play” with you all :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Haha, this is so nice of you!
But no, I could record and dared to upload it, but not “nicely”.
I was determined to record and upload something, so I recorded and recorded and became unhappier in the process. I think I added the more difficult stuff too late. I shouldn’t have added those two extra notes close to the A chord on the last day of practicing. So, I learned something about me and practicing too.

sure it sounds “nicely”, at least, don’t be too hard on yourself  I’m looking forward to your take, but it’s still “pending.” I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you get the fire extinguisher, but only if I don’t win it

Update after announcement on Insta:
I didn’t :frowning: but hey, thanks for the challenge  , I enjoyed learning the intro again and listening to the other takes.

According to Instagram, the winner is Lee Billins (leebillins1704). Congrats!

Hopefully he’ll at least pop into the forum briefly.

Congrats, but was there only one prize?

Anyway, it was fun

Here you go all you Pink Floyd fans:

I just wanted to say how great is Pink Floyd?! not only actively encouraging guitar students to learn their songs but requesting Justin remake the lesson and running the competition with amazing prizes!
Big contrast to some other bands/artists that won’t even allow Justin to do a guitar lesson on their songs!
Thanks to Pink Ployd and Justin and the whole team. This was a lot of fun! :guitar:

A bit late to the party, but sure I only started learning this song six years ago…
Although I’ve been AWOL for a while, I noted (and watched a few contributions for) this ‘contest’. I remember butchering it in my first year and maybe even mentioning that one day I’d have a bash at the picking thing… Well, it’s been a long time since I watched a Justin lesson and used a pic on individual strings, but for what it’s worth, here’s my belated ‘entry’
I’m happy enough with the basics and those rough bits should buff out if I put in the time and effort.
PM me if I’ve won a mug/fire extinguisher or similar… :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:
I’m looking here at Chris’ 12-string guitar that I borrowed for @Richtrfc to try out (yes, you can pick it up next Wed ), and briefly wondered if I should give WYWH a spin with it, but no, I have no wish to go down the GAS road… yet

You leant that quickly Brian, well done!
Look forward to accompanying you with the 12 string on Wednesday. Although as you know I have never touched a 12 string before……
Richard

Yes, I suppose six years is pretty quick for such an iconic song
I’ll be a generous host and let you do all the fun, twiddly bits & solo. I’ll just strum along and maybe try a couple of harmonies. See you Wed.

O my goodness .Brian…I have never seen you so concentrated and looking at your hands for so long, :joy:

Finally… :sweat_smile::clap:

I was already looking to see if you had posted this after reading your posts …

I’m looking forward to what you and Richard @Richtrfc will make of it, have an amazingly lot of fun guy`s :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Greetings

Hehe, that’s because this is documentation of a learning exercise as opposed to a performance
I struggle to pick the correct strings with my right hand, esp. with that pick thingy, so I need to peek
Once it gets to the strum-a-dum-dum/singing bit, it’s back to ‘At ease!’
Not sure Richard and I will be doing any recording, but fun will definitely be had. We have a nice rhythm of meeting up once a week when it suits us, and I think he enjoys it as much as I do. Otherwise, he’s just very polite!
