One of my favourite DP tracks @DarrellW, especially the MIJ live version. I will park this for later in the day.
Second vinyl we ever purchased. MIJ is spectacular. I was fortunate to see DP live in the 90s, the MKII lineup with Blackmore replaced by Steve Morse. No shadow of a doubt, best live show I ever experienced. No fancy videos, stage props etc just 5 fantastic musicians playing their songs.
Ukes are fun to play and they are excellent entertainment props.
Get one!
Are they nice to listen to, even when played well?
Nah, not really
Do you deserve a like if you only made me go back and listen to the original?
Oh, g’wan
@brianlarsen thank you - sincerely!! - for dampening that bit of enthusiasm. Perhaps guitar lessons would be a better investment of time and money …
What a stoater. Goosey’s in the first minute, so knew it would be good one.
I see from Mr Cerbu’s Blackmore syrup, he must have frequented The Wirral Wiggie Wig emporium, where @brianlarsen acquired his blue one Good share Darrell.
Mdou Moctar
Heard him on the rAdio this morning. He has just released a new album.
Mdou Moctar was born in the Nigerien village of Tchintabaraden, and then grew up in Arlit, a mining town. After listening to artists such as Abdallah_Oumbadougou he wanted to play the guitar, but his family disapproved of electric music, so he had to build his own guitar using bicycle cables for strings.
For the past few days I’ve been listening to renaissance lute music. Yes, kind of tangential to guitar, but it’s super good to chill out and also rich in details. Now I know where some of the licks in Sting’s Shape of My Heart come from
Ignore Brian, he’s just biased They’re great fun to play, the chord shapes are not different to the top 4 strings but the tuning is the same as a guitar with a Capo on the 5th fret. Given that with a Uke the chords just have different names e.g. E chord on guitar = A chord on Uke. If you’re really interested I would suggest a Concert or Tenor size one and decent brands are Kala and Enya, their build quality is good!
Thanks @DarrellW , I guess I’m pretty fickle as your additional input has me wanting a uke again . I had gone so far as to check sizes and was thinking Concert size, thanks for the info on brands.
Something rather different from me by two fabulous singers singing a piece in their own language (which sometimes makes all the difference), one of my favourite relaxing pieces of music!
Gotta love a bit of Kurt Weill and Berthold Brecht.
‘Opera’ is pushing it though
Having seen Ozzy only in a more-or-less frail state, it’s always a revelation to see/hear that he was one of the most entertaining frontmen of his time.
“Are you high? Are you high? So am I!”
Black Sabbath at Asbury Park, NJ, Aug. 5, 1975:
Just been listening to Pink Floyd - Hey Hey Rise Up. I am not sure if this could be deemed political and a breach of forum protocol if I added more. So feel free to check it out independently and why PF have reunited for this song.
Spotted this in the YT feed this morning. An all time great song! Here three renditions of Little Wing, starting with Derek and the Dominoes.
Had to have another listen to SRV jamming the song. Not a surprise that it has a little more Jimi feel.
No choice but to top off this indulgence, with Jimi himself
