Pick me up when I’m feeling blue, how 'bout you? Well that blew away the woes of a couple of hours OM set up issues. Nice take on and old classic.
Some complex guitar tuning and strumming going on here.
Cool tune David.
Here is Justin’s take on it .
Thanks for sharing the lesson, Dean. Justin did a good job of singing that. Way beyond my current capabilities to play and the singing may just be a bridge way too far, irrespective of how I improve as a player and singer over time.
Yes he did sing that well.
Agree also on the challenge this song would
be to learn and sing.
Have quite a few of Neil’s song in my playbook and most of them took quite some time and repetition to nail down.
Old Man, My my Hey hey, and Needle and the damage done come to mind.
Don’t recall you ever posting recording in #record-yourself-progress-performance:audio-video-of-you-playing, would love to see you play these NY classics. I have My My Hey Hey in my camp-fire repertoire and most recently added Only Love Can Break Your Heart. If I could have the music of only one artist/band on a desert island it would be NY … close call but he just edges out Keith Richards.
I’m a bit shy to be posting my guitar adventures plus there
is that technology thing to overcome being an old man and all.
My better half is a good audience though.
But hey been a fan of Neil from the beginning , just something about the style, CSNY too.
Understood, Dean, I think pretty much all of us feel that sense of vulnerability when we make that first post. But I think true to say that without exception all say afterwards how glad they are to have taken the plunge and over time how beneficial sharing recordings has been. I’ve no idea as to where you are down the long and winding road of learning, but would imagine regardless there’s value in overcoming the shyness.
As for technology, if you have a relatively modern smartphone, then you may be surprised as to how straightforward it is to make and share a video recording. And there are plenty of people in the Community to lend a hand if you have questions (which you could post in Hardware, Software & Recording)
I never really got into CSNY as much as his work with Crazy Horse and other bands, listened a fair bit to Deja Vu on strength of its critical acclaim but didn’t quite ring all my bells.
Not my fault !! Monday and Tuesday had a great rehearsal and solid levels on YouTube. Just a matter of deciding which of the 2 secondary songs to play. So started rehearsal yesterday evening, confident in the fact it was just some fine tuning required for the next week.
Yeah my donkey !! Mega latency with or without Reaper in the equation. After 2 hours gave up and decided this morning I’ll go back to basics and my OM5 set up just using the Xenyx AI into Zoom. Spent the morning under the “studio” desks, plumbing everything back together and will now see what this evening brings.
All should be good but not wonderful for the old blood pressure. Suspect all will be fine and I can then troubleshoot the other issues knowing, there should not be another Green Room panic next Saturday.
And breathe.
Here is the before and after.
Appreciate the encouragement and tips David.
Might get there eventually.
Perhaps that phone should be coloured red … a hotline to call out for aid
Another one from Neil which Justin does a tutorial on also.
Neat strumming pattern tune but not advanced enough player to do it w/o a pick and the percussive thing.
Thanks Dean.
And I guess if one is at that level one doesn’t need to worry about if right foot tapping is going to bobble the guitar around and make playing difficult
I’ve not been a big fan of ukes but I’ve been thinking about getting one for some reason. This song doesn’t look any easier on the uke though!
Err @TheMadman_tobyjenner might like this, I really like the collaborations that Sina does, they’re always top notch!
