A touch of Nick Cave, Amigo the Devil and Ghost makes for an interesting song with a great solo…

A great song enhanced by some fine guitar playing.

Here’s something to kick start your moment. . .

Bettye Lavette – JOY

Enjoy!!

This came up in my Tidal feed, so I put a Spotify link here. Ms Foley is a blues guitarist and this album is just her and her guitar. There’s a mix of styles including blues, country/bluegrass, Spanish/classical with a hint of jazz here.

The record is covers of tracks by female guitar players such as Maybelle Carter, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Elizabeth Cotton, and Minnie Lawlers.

Worth checking out but don’t neglect her other albums if you’re more into electric blues similar to Samantha Fish or Joanne Shaw Taylor.

A new song from Mindy Smith. Hearfelt lyrics and a lovely melody: a singer and her guitar. Simple yet beautiful.

Found a couple of unreleased Springsteen songs that were written for the Nebraska album but never made the cut. Bruce has a way of taking you into a song…

Jimi Hendrix, Voodoo Child - different league!!

Swiss metal does not have to be bad :sunglasses:

Last week I spent a few days in Paris and walked by the apartment building where Jim Morrison used to live. The past week I’ve been on a Doors binge sort-of rediscovering their songs. These two are more underrated but I’ve always liked them:

Another brilliant song: Joan Baez wote this recounting her experience of Bob Dylan. Fantastic lyrics, beautiful accompaniment.

I can’t hear one without wanting to hear the other.

JP had a knack for covers in the 70’s

Studio version is already great, but this live version is just outstanding:

I can post some essential Theo Katzman listening if anyone’s interested .

Please do. Never heard of Theo before you shared the video. But… What a voice. What a musician.

I have started listening to the Heartbreakhits album now and some of the songs are really great, some just a tiny bit too “poppy”. So if you have recommendations, I’d be delighted :slightly_smiling_face:

@Eccleshall played this at Saturday’s open mic (just over 10 minutes in)
One of my favourite songs ever.
Superb storytelling and lyrics, matched with sumptuous melody and strings.
Sigh… :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Lady of a certain age by The Divine Comedy

and while you’re there, you should also check out the excellent Keb’ Mo’ - Put a Woman in Charge performed by @TheCluelessLuthier
In fact, just watch the whole show!

Fabuolus song, by far the most difficult thing I’ve ever attempted too. It dwells somewhere outside the orbit of my technical abilities, but is something to aim for, for sure.
If anyone else is having a bash at learning it, I can share the picking pattern and all those pesky thumb over spidery chords
This is for me the definitive version

One of my current favorite bands. Great music and a history lesson with every song.
