Lately I’ve been expanding my soul music horizon as a result of my “side project” of learning to play the bass guitar. Yesterday one of my colleagues recommended Thee Sacred Souls to me. So far, they’ve released 2 albums and a handful of singles and I think they are pretty good. They fall on the mellower side of soul so chances are that a lot of people may like them. This kind of sound (and some classic acts like Isaac Hayes and Curtis Mayfield) is tempting me to refocus my guitar journey and give more shape to my chord playing/strumming.
The past couple of years, I’ve really become a fan of Ghost. This is one of my favorite songs from them.
Ghost is amazing! And Square Hammer is exactly the song that got me into them, before hearing it I though they were dome kind of black/death metal band and avoided them because of it.
4 great talents on stage - but those abominable guitar tones… seriously, what were they thinking? Fortunately, the chops of the players and the apparent chemistry between them make the music work.
to be honest I am listening to Jim Campilongo, and transcribing one of his recordings it is really good when you realise this number just sits around the patterns we have just learnt in Blim I want to be able to play this arrangement its so memorising cheers Hec
