Havenât posted here in ages, but somebody suggested I give Warren Hayes and Govât Mule a listen, jamming on Neil Youngâs Cortez the Killer. Top drawer if you like this sort of thing

This whole release is pretty amazing but this first song really sets it off.
Performed by Cropper, King and Staples. Written byRay Charles
Edit to add this is a Stax Records release.
Oh, I donât listen to commercial radio. Whatâs available over the air here is just awful. Itâs either SiriusXM or Pandora, but then itâs blues, classic rock, or older soul music.
I now live in southern Minnesota, but grew up in Chicago area. The I listened to WXRT, which was primarily a âNew Waveâ station in the 80s, eventually evolving to what they call âadult album alternativeâ in the 90s. I still listen to it online occasionally, but all the commercials are a pain.
Oh yeah, I do like Government Mule!
Warren Haynes, one of my favorite Southern Rockers. David check him out with Dickey Betts when the Allmen Brothers reunited 1989. The tour was suppose to last for 6 months and lasted 7 yrs.
Rick Beato has a really good interview with Warren if you have an hour to kill.
Thanks Stitch. Will see what I can find of the Allmanâs Tour.
Iâve moved away from YouTube and rarely watch Rick Beato, stopped on the sports pundit content, and if I do it is now chess edutainment, with emphasis on education.
This has been popping up in my Instagram feed for a few weeks and has just recently been released. What an amazing international collaboration performance of Crossroad Blues.
@stitch I found a YouTube of a performance from that era. Fabulous.
While about decided to try my luck on YouTube and see what a search for Warren Haynes and Dereck Trucks might throw up . . . paydirt!!
This is a great way to start a Sunday morning @DavidP, thanks for sharing. I liked watching the interaction between the two, handing off the leads with a simple head nod, etc. and the smile on Derekâs face. Just a couple guys having a fun jam.
Butch Trucks drummer and original member of the Allman Brothers Band is Dereks uncle. So music runs in the family.
Good to see you finding these nuggets DP. Enjoy !!
So I went to see The Warning last night at O2 Academy Brixton, I drove down there in our EV, the Travelodge The Oval Brixton had free EV charging which was great. It was ÂŁ100/night for a double room only.
It was 1.5 miles away from the venue so walkable distance. The concert was opened by Sophie Lloyd and her band, they were amazing! TW were on great form, it was their biggest headlining concert outside Mexico so it was a big thing for them.
Anyway, a couple of videos - not done by me, not enough charge in my phone
Hope you enjoy them!
Darrell
Excellent clips: must have been a great night out!

It was amazing, I was almost hoarse when we came away, thatâs the non singer in me gone , g@d knows what people thought with me being one of those âany old note will doâ types; nobody complained about it
Itâs taken its toll a bit on me, Iâve been sleeping a lot ever since (any time of day ) but it was just soooo worth it!
The new tour looks really sweet. I have been debating with the wife about tickets for Ghost or Punk in the Park. The wife is pretty firm about Punk in the Park. I am leaning that way also but who knows, I may suprise her and swing both.
Artem
Great selection: youâve introduced me to two artists I did not know.
Brian
Can think of a couple of old stagers who may appreciate this. Loving this new un from WH.
Album out, which I just plugged into Spotify.
