What are you currently listening to 2025?

If I understood my guitar teacher correctly, we are using this song for barre chord practice in the next lesson.

Well… Luckily it’s not a fast song …

I’ve been listening to a lot of Justin Johnson recently, since I found out about him a few weeks ago. I love this slow Blues version of Tennessee Whiskey.

Edit: I just realised @TheMadman_tobyjenner posted this same video a week ago . Good to see we have similar tastes.

Joan Armatrading. Her only blues style album but I love all her music. She plays the guitars, the bass and all the keyboards on this album too. Very impressive musician.

I’ve been listening to a lot of Justin Johnson lately too. I’m currently stuck on The Bootleg Series, Vol 7: Night Owl.

@Richard_N Chrissie Hynde was an early inspiration for me. She’s still going strong and has always been there! Her voice sounds like home

@Prof_Thunder Thanks for this! I didn’t know it but I’m giving it a listen. Sounds great! She is an impressive musician! I love her voice too.

Very impressive playing!

Was just watching this concert you posted of Royal Republic and then saw that they are coming to Lausanne in November. Got tickets - should be fun!!!

Thanks for posting.

I’ve been catching up with the great music posted in this topic. Many of these artists were unknown to me.
One of my favourite finds this year has been Samantha Fish. I like listening to artists unplugged, because that’s when they truly show how good they are.

This is an “unplugged” performance by SF (although not strictly unplugged because she’s playing an electric guitar). Just her and the guitar, no effects, nothing else.

Samantha Fish is an amazing guitarist. This is my favourite.

Daughter just shared this artist with me. Can’t really post that track here, something to do with ice and it weren’t vanilla. But it led me to check out some of his other stuff. Thought provoking, super vox and great guitarist. This nudged my Zen self

He seems to be rattling some trees in certain areas, so tread with caution if you are sensitive to folks using music to kick back - like there’s been here in the JGC recently.

KWS, one of my favourite guitar players, showing us the correct way of playing a Stratocaster

I had the pleasure of watching him do this live in Cardiff a few months ago.

So has anyone else been binging on Anika Nilles’ music for the last few days?

My Akai mini midi controller arrives tomorrow! :open_mouth:
I can’t wait to start making some ‘beats’ and 80’s style tunes like this
… not to mention ‘throwing some shapes’ on the dancefloor for the accompanying videos

The inimitable Tim Minchin!

Tim Minchin. Funny song. People are strange. They moaned and “rebelled against the establishment” who enforced decency in music. Now swearing and blasphemy is no longer censored and we hear it from the mouths of country leaders and senior execs. Was it worth it? We just love doing the opposite of what we’re told :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::guitar::sign_of_the_horns:t2:

It’s rarely the words that are problematic. It’s almost always who is using them and in what context

I had this song in my head this morning. Childhood memory. I couldn’t think of the title or the artist. Chatgpt to the rescue, and here it is. Such a great band, and singer. Dani Klein, with Vaya con Dios. I have to listen to the album now.

Then put on their first album!
