What are you currently listening to 2025?

I did. There are many great songs in that album. Honourable mentions: ā€œDon’t cry for Louieā€, ā€œPuerto Ricoā€.

Steph Strings’ new single - Gratefully
Don’t be put off by her singing about being 24 with wrinkles and crows feet and ā€˜old age’ right at the start of the song   it’s a nice song  :sunflower:

I’m a grumpy old man, but I think we were far better off when there was a clear distinction about times and places that certain language was just not acceptable. Now people in nice restaurants are dropping F-bombs in a loud conversation.

Didn’t get me wrong. I was a police officer for 25 years, and did 22 years Army between active and reserve. I can cuss with the best of them. I just have a sense for when and where.

…going to this guy’s and his wife’s gig this evening and I guess, I will be just a bit disappointed, should they not be playing this…

This is like a mashup of the Thunderbirds’ animators making Gomez’ Get Myself Arrested video played by the Merseybeats

That’s exactly what it is like.

I think the marionettes and the video were made by one of the band. I like Joe and Mick shaking their heads in the control room, but I cannot identify the guy who’s peeking through the window.

This geezer and the band popped up on Spotify after I’d been looping some Ghost Hounds tracks recently and thought yeah I need some of that. Super Bluesy rock n brass and jeez what a voice.

I have been listening to some of Aces stuff. These 2 are super cool. The first is from when all the members did solo releases this was on his. Its a cool song I think he does a key change in the middle of it.

The Deuce.

Ace has a cool solo and his outro rips are totally killer.

RIP Space Ace

I listened to this dozens of times in September It was ā€œPeaceā€ month in my bass guitar group and I decided to try and accompany Eva on the fretless bass, using it as a melodic instrument. Her version of ā€œOver the Rainbowā€ is beautiful, but very difficult to play along to (or at least I found it difficult).

I’ve linked her version 1st, then mine with her. I’m not on guitar so I assume it’s not appropriate for AVOYP. Mods feel free to take mine down if you consider it inappropriate.

I know hardly anything about blues but I watched this video interview with Joanne Shaw Taylor especially as she shows the tones she gets out of a tele just using the bridge pickup. I’m very much a tele fan. It’s very interesting and got me interested in her music and then that of Albert Collins who is one of her main influences. As I’m planning to do BLIM when I’m ready this has given me a lot more interest in blues music.

I don’t know why the main picture on YouTube is of a Les Paul. In the video she only shows her 2 teles.
