Brilliant choice.

A history of rock music in 500 songs - the podcast… learning a lot about the origins of this form of music and the stories behind many famous songs. I had tried to read the book years back but it was a hard slog. The podcast is more entertaining, with music snippets etc.

Totally agree, this podcast is awesome.

Even if you’re not into the history of rock music, this podcast is a great resource for your favorite band. Like Led Zeppelin? Check out Song #180, “Dazed and Confused”: Song 180: “Dazed and Confused” by Led Zeppelin, Part One, The Song Remains the Same – A History of Rock Music in 500 Songs

Btw, the songs are only a way to introduce (or continue the story of) a band: the pods don’t only deal with a particular song, but the history of the band around the time that the song came out. In the above example, the beginning of Led Zeppelin.

Just livin’ my best life.

When was the last time anyone saw me take requests or direction? LOL
What will I post next?

Doin’ great Mr B. Keep on jamming, man!

That’s kind of you to say, Clint.

Wow, goes back a ways. My mom-in-law must have still been with us as I am recording in my son’s bedroom.

Still one of my go-to favourites.

This just does not feel… it is unreal how great he playes and then he starts singing. Oh my god. I just cant stop listening to this. His left and right hand is just dancing all around fretboard.

You can listen to the whole song, but I am sharing the part where he is starting to improvise. Oh my god.

And that 02:00 is even better… everything awesome there.

A great song from one of my favourite singer-songwriters, Courtney Marie Andrews.

A recent offering from my daughter, who I musically corrupted in the cradle . . . and she keeps paying back.

Esme Rose has some more interesting tracks for sure but they may cross boundaries here. So this is just a taster and you can then take the next steps if you like what you hear.

Hmm… First impression: There is something about this, which says AI. It’s not a bad song at all, it just seems too perfect.

I love those guys.

How about a good old-fashioned protest song?

Phil Ochs was a prominent singer-songwriter on the '60s folk scene, who never quite had the success he had hoped for. He ended taking his own life, but not before he wrote and performed some pretty awesome songs. Though not among his very, very best, this one popped into my mind today:

I’ve been listening to the amazing Tommy Emmanuel recently, and had the amazing pleasure of watching him play last night.
