What are you tempted to buy for yourself for Christmas but shouldn't?

Hec @DeltaTyne
Yes definately Tynemouth Priory
As you would expect from somebody from North Shields

I went to Tuscany once when my daughter was doing a year of college in Fiorentina. Perhaps the most memorable part was shocking my family by ordering brazed piccione at a restaurant. I would love to go back to Tuscany, but not for the piccione.

I’m actually pretty happy on the gear front right now. I have some stuff in mind down the line, but for now I’m good.

I’ll be joining a local guitar meet/jam/learn group for 2025 (membership money goes towards meeting venue fees and such), but that’s a pretty minor expense.

I think my wife is the one who has the ā€œtempted to buy but shouldn’tā€ challenge at the moment. haha.

Used AI to design another couple of MMS Merch products today. Xmas on hold here (wife’s not too good) so no prezzies bar a Best of Pete Green’s Fleetwood Mac, double vinyl.
So yeah why not just JFDI !!

As our good friend @sairfingers said to me many moons ago, ā€œNae pockets in a shroud laddieā€ !

I am not familiar with the book, but maybe I should be. The only guitar related presents I did was give Jen a wireless guitar transmitter/receiver. The cables give her fits. Of course, I bought a set for me as well. :smirk:

I stumbled upon a video of one very beautiful and, what makes it all worse, quite reasonably priced guitar and the thoughta about it don’t want to leave my head. Sounds like a perfect example of GAS and it is, I suppose. But I don’t see it as something bad and that guitar is really beautiful. We’ll see.

I’m tempted by a Fender Champion 50XL amplifier, and I have no idea why. I use a Champ 20 now, and it’s fine for what I do.

The reason I’m tempted to get the 50XL is because it’s been discontinued, replaced with the Champion II 50. The 50XL has the 12" Celestion speaker, which I’ve heard really good things about and the Champ Ii does not.

And why I shouldn’t is because I never let anyone hear me play, using headphones from the amp almost exclusively, so the high-quality speaker is a waste.

On the other hand, maybe some day I’ll change my mind, and will have the opportunity to jam with others, and the 50XL will no longer be available (my local shop has one in stock.)

I’ve recently been looking at smaller/travel guitars. There are times at my job when I get some stretches of downtime, and it would be nice to get a little practice in every so often just to have something to do. However, I don’t have the space to bring either of my full sized guitars with me to work, so I’ve been looking online for possibilities. Part of me feels it’s still a little too early on in my journey to invest in something like that, though (for the record, I’ve only been back at trying to learn for a couple of months now, but they’ve been a great couple of months).

Nice bit of playing with this IBANEZ Q52PB-ABS Headless.

It is, but to my point, that could have been played on any guitar. The headless guitar is an opportunity to rethink the form of a guitar and Ibanez have failed to do that. They’ve left the output jack in the same old place rather than making an additional surface that better allows a player to sit upright with good posture while playing. Unless Ibanez address this, when I inevitably get a headless guitar, it won’t be one of theirs, it’s an absolute deal breaker for what I want

After being hit with a costly car service / MOT / repair bill … my answer is nada. I could have had a new PRS Hollowbody for the money. What sucks is that working from home means I only do about 5000 miles per annum these days. But, gotta have transport right.

So, did you get the Mini?
They are great.
I want the Troubadour one, though…

I just got my tires punctured by the police, or some special forces… Drove over their thingy with nails… It was supposed to be disarmed, but apparently, not perfectly so. Anyway, threw me back $400…
And my water boiler died. Another $600.

So, maybe new strings anyway?

Can’t disagree with that!

Not seeing the problem with this as the jack location matches what I have with my Pacifica, and all works OK for me.

Probably the same with me as someone ran into my car (and next doors) and didn’t stop! Not the worlds best Christmas present.
