What are you tempted to buy for yourself for Christmas but shouldn't?

Have you played one, acoustically? The Troubadours are cute too. Sorry about your punctures!

I played a few of them.
Every one was different.
Some quite disappointing.
But plugged into a proper amp (AER, for example ), they are just perfect.

The it works for me line isn’t really putting yourself in someone else’s shoes is it? Move the jack plug to the end of the guitar, make a flat surface where the jack plug was and you’ve got a whole extra position that the guitar can be played in which is more comfortable for some people

I dont own a car so I ll probably buy an APXT 2 with an amp

Strings are definitely something i will be buying myself, and some more picks.

Another thing Im looking at that I may pick up this weekend are some Blu Ray sets of classic Doctor Who. That’s assuming they’re still on sale when I next get paid.

Wouldn’t a guitar cable 2 angle solve that?

My shouldn’t buy changed when I played the Martin DJR10 in the shop… so I bought it. Really happy with it. Perfect size for home sofa play and sounds great. Thought I would buy the Taylor GS mini, but the frets were too tiny, didn’t like that.

Not really. A well cut edge means the guitar will basically support itself at a 45 degree angle which it won’t with anything sticking out of a jack socket on that part of the guitar. You’ll have the weight of the guitar resting on your leg on the cable, which isn’t great even for an angled cable. It would be a really poor substitute for the Strandberg / HILS shape

Tried it today at a music store, though a different colour. I think I’m in trouble here.

I’m tempted by a red Gibson SG, it’s been on my GAS wishlist for a while, was on Christmas sale and now post Christmas sale. And featured prominently in almost every video I watched during BLIM Unit 6 research for my artist essay.

I bought two guitars this year, so I’ve got sit this one out. Besides, I’ve already been informed that I’ve enough guitars already!

I’m going to be buy myself a hydration pack for my acoustic guitar. I shouldn’t need to so soon, but I was careless enough to leave on the floor when I took out of the case and stepped on in when I got up to grab another pick. It made a sickening sound and left a clear gelatenous pool on the carpet. I’ll learn not to do that again

Show pics! Before or after the purchase.

I will. Though if I decide to get this one (who am I kidding, I already know my decision), i’ll get it in a couple of month.

I found plenty of temptation in this book which I happened upon at my local public library. I’m not any kind of gearhead (like some of you here), as I only own two acoustics. Actually, I did get myself a nice upright guitar stand for Christmas, so chalk up another sale for @CATMAN62 !

Hi @mattswain

With the Strandberg, remember that the neck is an unusual twisted trapzoid and I do not remember seeing other manufacturers do that. It is really comfortable for when the thumb is ont eh back and I like the thick feel of the neck in the palm of my hand for wrapping the thumb over. I do run into the back of the neck with vibrato, so that is a little awkward.

Mine is also ā€˜chambered’ so it is pretty light. the sound is bright, but pleasing.

I have been looking at this Godin Kingpin II with P90 pickups. I do not really need it and I am also thinking that I won’t like the heavy strings (see the bridge shift is at string 2, so I need to maintain wound string 3 for intonation). It is just so pretty and sounds nice. Probably a good thing I haven’t found one locally to sit with.

I have the same problem with that Godin. It looks so pretty. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Thanks for your comment

I’m fairly sure Strandberg have various patents on that neck which is why it’s not been copied by others. I’ve never had one in my hands but from what seen online people seem to generally say that they’re more natural in the hands than it appears they will be.

I’m not going to buy immediately but I’d be surprised if I don’t have a headless guitar by this time next year

Back at the end of November I was really tempted by the Susan Tedeschi signature tele but controlled myself.

I’ve decided I don’t really need a new guitar till after I start Grade 3. Consolidating Grade 2 is going to take me months so by the time I’m ready for another guitar I could be drooling over something else entirely!

I didn’t get anything guitar related for Christmas, but I did get an East Top Diatonic Blues Harmonica in the Key of C. SO now I have something else I need to learn how to play.

Similarly, very recently I was tempted by this one, but controled myself. :slightly_smiling_face:
