Wish You Were Here G Chord strumming pattern

I am reviewing the video for the WYWH riff and in the beginning I think Justin plays this pattern with the G chord-
DDUUDUD, then right around 13:10 he plays it like this - DDUUDUD UD DUU.

All well and good. I was thinking about a simpler pattern to get me through the song. Would the following pattern suffice? Or would you recommend another?
1+2+3+4+
D-DU-UDU
count one, two-and, and four-and
Emphasis (groove) might be -
D-Du-Udu

I can play the whole song but this is kind of my sticking point. Maybe I’m over-complicating it. But, any cool strumming pattern for my level would be appreciated.
