Wonderwall by Oasis Lesson

Hi, thank you for the revamped lesson, I’ve spent a lot of time on the legacy one, and it’s nice to come back to this one.
There is something that is throwing me off a little, in the breakdown of the strumming pattern, especially around the 25:30 mark, Justin seems to add a lighter upstrum in the second bar of the D (at the first e count, right before the open chord), and listening to the record it seems most accurate to me, at least for the intro, while in the verse the pattern as shown seems more accurate.

I’m trying to work out the pre-chorus strumming pattern. Can’t find it in the Justin video. Have also watched Noel playing it in the Howard Stern video, it’s a bit fast for me to keep up with.

I think what you have for the G D/F# Em G bit, DDU DDU DDU DDU, sounds good!

For the A chords bit at the end I’ve gone with D DUD DU UD DUDU.

For the C D Em x2 at the start of the pre-chorus I just redo the D D DUDU U U D DU :person_shrugging:

I found this youetube looper to be useful you can set the time stamp and speed then you put it in a loop you can start slow and then speed it up when your ready hope this helps

@up2spec so i use this strumming pattern twice for 1 cd em like once for c d and once for em

Hey :waving_hand:
The A7sus4 information here for Wonderwall isn’t the A7sus4 that Justin uses to teach the song. He uses the A7sus4 default, not this variation. So which one?

Use the variation that Justin demonstrates at 5:35 in the video.

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:
Why the difference though?

They are the same chord in a slightly different configuration.
The first has the notes A E G D G
The second has the notes A E A D G
There is really no difference as they have the same notes. The first has 2 G’s, the second has 2 A’s, but it still sounds the same.

The Wonderwall link here says it’s a simplified version.

But the link lead to the full hard version.

Also it says it’s for Grade 3, is that correct?

“If you want to learn this song, it’s a good idea to simplify it! Strum only on the beat, and don’t get too fancy with the strumming variations!”

That’s what is written in the text and what beginners should do… that strumming is no beginner friendly, unless you have a very well developed sense of Rhythm already. I think it is in Module 8 because it gives you the chance to practice your 3&4 stuck chords… but you should approach it really simple with just downstrums on the beat as Justin suggests.

Beautiful, thank you Silvia

Hi Silvia, what would be a simple good strumming pattern for this song? Four downbeats, two chords in each measure/bar?

Just downstrum on the beat.

I’m not familiar with this song and can’t go into details, but this is something you can work out by yourself…listening to the original recording first is always a very good idea.
