My participation for this year will be a Jingle Bells Acoustic Blues Version that I found on youtube. I did not have time to learn the whole arrangement this year so I came up with an improvised ending.
Hi Molly @MollyT ,
For years, all kinds of nice songs from previous years have been repeated here at Christmas ⦠just practice something for a long time and have it ready so that it can be used in case of an āemergencyā or party somewhere
the message is to be prepared or ā¦
if this year our partners say that we have to arrange the Christmas decorations and what you save on the stuff this year you can spend on guitar stuff ā¦
Itās impossible to avoid the āreligionā forum taboo on a Christmas thread, but my understanding of said religion was an underlying message of love (of God, your neighbour, your enemies). This song ticks them all for me
Thatās a fun and bluesy arrangement Mathieu @math07 of a Christmas classic you found there - loved it!
And John @Johnandrewbent your performance is sooo classy! Slow and jazzed up - honey to the soul! Is that your own arrangement or did you find it somewhere? I put this song down now to learn next year.
And yes Rogier @roger_holland, there is indeed a need to keep some repertoire of seasonal songs at hand. But if I donāt practise them for almost a year they are basically forgotten and I have to start from scratch I thought I was ahead of the curve this year (especially since Deborah @GrumpyMac started reminding us early) but I think I have to start even earlier next year. Love your decorations photo - may you save lots of Euros and get some nice guitar stuff!
Itās an arrangement on Justinās site. Itās a really nice one to break into jazz if u wanted to learn it. A lovely chord progression with lots of alternative voicings if you want to try them!!
I think next year I will start a topic at the beginning of november
it will be a reminder of the soon to come Christmas topic but also a place where people can talk about what song they want to play , to exchange ideas or tutorials , and to give the motivation to beginners to participate too
Since the festive last until the end of december people would have 2 months to practice
Absolutely. Everybody who wants to should participate regardless of the level they are at! So an early reminder will give everyone enough time to practise to the point that they are comfortable with sharing a recording of their playing.

yeah thats the point of my proposition
at the moment , beginners or new members of the community discover the Christmas topic the moment we start to post our videos but its too late for them to learn anything , especially since they maybe need more time to learn a song
so an early reminder to warn everyone early seems to be a good thing to do
and having older members sharing ideas about christmas songs or melodies might push some beginners to participate too
Hey you all! What a great party is going on here?! Thank you for starting this oncemore Deborah!
Nowā¦the listeningā¦
Oh how lovely @roger_holland! I didnāt notice any timing issue to be honestā¦if it doesnāt stick to the original āmetronomicalā version but still sounding sweet and good, maybe we can call it prhasing? Iām both wondering and asking
I guess tooā¦
This is what I heard too Deborahā¦I read your reply to Brian, I hope youāre having fun using a capo now
@brianlarsen I love your performance Brian! So heartfelt throughout and evocative! For a moment I got confused because not the whole guitar was in the camera, just 4 tuning pegs and I seriously was wonderingā¦when I realised how silly I can be
Will you bear with me Brian and write the lyrics down for your italian friendās dull ear, wonāt you?
I passed a Cambridge Advanced English exam (C1), I got the highest mark or almost on Reading and Writing and just sufficient, or probably a bit less (I canāt remember) on the Listening ā¦I think the Speaking was halfwayā¦I need to go and check the certificate!
Math @math07 such a great job! Sounds really cool! Can I ask, are you using just the pick or hybrid picking?
So very lovely @Johnandrewbent, thanks for joining the partyā¦such a beautiful share!
Absolutely great idea Deborah! Butā¦butā¦the festive season here in Italy ends with the 6th of Januaryā¦isnāt it like that in the other countries too?
yes youāre right
it ends at the Epiphany here too
I forgot about it
but do you still sing festive songs after the new year ?
Here we just wait to eat the Kingās cake

Next year I will start to learn a song in June ! and not repeat the same mistake
Iām probably misunderstanding your reply but just in case: Religion wasnāt the taboo subject I was avoiding. "West Bankā has a geo-political association that wasnāt in use at the time of the birth of Jesus and I think the writer of this song had something in particular in mind.
