Been there done that, all part of the learning curve. Bet you don’t do it again. On the other matters thanks for sharing. My wife has suffered chronic fatigue since 3 heart attacks in 2020, so I get it to some degree. Take each day as it comes, slowly slowly catchy monkey. Be safe.
I feel you, Andrea, I feel you! Worked on this before my break and still struggle with exactly the same parts.
As always, enjoyed your update and I am glad to read that you are kind of getting adjusted to your situation. It will take time of course, but good rehab helped in that regard. One step at a time.
Also it seems you make great progress on guitar, that’s awesome! Keep on keeping on, as David often says.
I’m so pleased you got a lot of benefit from your 4 week rehab Andrea. Now you just have to put into practice all the advice they’ve given you. Great LL update too. Well done.
I know exactly what you mean!!
Good to hear you’re back home and doing okay Andrea.
I admire how you stick to guitar through thick and thin.
Good update!
Hi Andrea, it was nice to read your updates!
Not everything positive, but I admire your making bravely the best out of your situation!
May the force be with you! … hopefully a bit more and then more.
I mean the human body is complicated and even great doctors don’t know everything about it.
Haha, better watch what you do!
But you can also buy each of the strings …uhm “einzeln”.
Hi Andrea…I’m happy to read things are getting better, which means you have a plan and some strategies to cope with new balances and feel your life in your hands…which in its turn also means having some music under your fingers, right?
As for the Fingers Muted Hit…
Yes, my friend…
Exactly my exlamation when I reached it last year! In fact I managed to do something with it and soon quit the practice as it seemed so difficult to develop consistency and confidence (I know it’s very bad of me
) It’s only a few months I’ve restarted working on it…and what it turns out is that it only requires much more physical practice than one could imagine!
I just tried to do the hit as Justin shows… The metronome is helping me hugely to build speed while maintaining a decent accuracy of the movement and angle the wrist properly so that the hit doesn’t sound terrible and I can achieve a kind of consistent sound. And to have fun with it I slow down a couple of easy chords songs I already know on YouTube and I play along…it’s important to slow down the speed…if you have the Beginner App you can use that too…hope this helps…
It will…no doubt When I think how my fretting fingers were in the beginning!
…sorry…I’m not laughing at you but at my ownself because at my last re-stringing I managed to kill the bass E string whilst tuning up
Thanks for your update
Hi folks, I’m a little late on replying, sorry, but I have to do those little steps… Thank you all for reading through my ramblings!
Good to know I’m not alone !
I’m sending lots of good wishes into your and your wife’s direction ! It’s hard for those who suffer, but also for supporting partners and family
.
Promised!!
@Lisa_S I guess, as always perseverence is the key! I still have major problems with those “adjustments” to the situation, there is a big gap between theory and practice !
Yes, I hear David’s mantra in my ears, and it’s the only option anyway . I’ll keep it fun, step by step, even then progress is made by concistency!
How is your little one ?
@sairfingers Always a pleasure to read your comments, Gordon! Thanks!
@Stuartw I’ve neglected my scale practice recently and I’m still unsure about my “improvision”. I’m currently working on Major Scale Maestro from the beginning of Grade 4, but so far, my preference is more towards the Minor Pentatonic, I guess.
I hope the random aspect will get more professional with time!
@BurnsRhythm Nice to tread your comment, David!
Guitar has become a real big part of my spare time. It’s so benefical in many aspects of life, I won’t miss it any more. It gives me challenges as well as relaxation and I enjoy those stolen hours for practice a lot. The good thing is, I’m not forced to get anywhere (but I want!!! ), So, I take it easy and joyful. Although I felt a bit of “pressure” to take the guitar with me. We were asked by default in rehab, if we had any addiction problems (they meant alcohol, nicotin and drugs, of course) and I had to hold my self back to write “guitar” into the questionnaire
.
@domi7 Hey Dominique, nice to see you here! Thanks for the nice comment!
Are you happy with BLIM? How is it going?
Good to read!
Yes, I guess this is key. My first attempts were like “beating” on the strings like not having any motor skills . It was awful and I had to apologize to my poor guitar. Thanks for the tips, I’ll try!
I’m so sorry, Silvia, but this caused a fit of laughter . I’m not laughing at you either, but there is nothing that can not happen. I asked myself what kind of a b i g “pang” this must have been. Jesus! Don’t ever hurt yourself!!! Please!
I hope, when @roger_holland will read this, his omnipresent cup of tea will be safely placed on the table .
I’ve heard the weather is going to get crazy again in your region, please stay safe and I hope it will spare you!
All the best wishes to you
!
I actually wanted to take a photo with the cup of tea next to the computer half empty… so I was so lucky … because I almost laughed harder than ever because I had just finished reading your story when you posted this post and I got a popup … I already had a smart comment ready about your Bstring accident … comes that weird Italian girl jump over with her Big E
Silvia O Slilvia O @Silvia80
The biggest problem now is that I have to come up with a sentence (or 2) for a number of things again because while reading your story I wrote a page in my head, but it is now blank again…
Pfff ,can`t have a break here
Lets see if i can do this short now
Most importantly, but also most annoyingly, I really sympathize with you and think it is a great pity that you still have such serious complaints and that it will take a very long time to get a little better and it will have a long-lasting impact on everything. I didn’t expect anything different, but you sometimes hear that people get much better after intensive treatment, but to be honest I don’t know what situation those people were in (only see on the television , so this is of no use to you either probably )…and there’s probably nothing you haven’t heard…Science sometimes makes rapid progress, and from my own experience I know that the best doctors make mistakes and the body and/or mind sometimes does something for the first time that it has not yet experienced…
hope and the right attitude…at least you have that
Yes, being “locked up” in such a group with people with same or all kinds of things but in suffer creates a bond and a certain peace, I still have contact with some many years later and had an intensive friendship for a long time with one… until he started going crazy in conspiracy theories
About that train…
you should have played, that creates space around you whether you play well (+ some money then ) or very badly (people flee away and even closer together in another compartment
)
I understand so very well what you describe with guitar practice and time … and I know that I will play much better if I do it differently, but I miss that stick behind the door (but again, Silvia tried it with me and I am really going to try it
and now that you “have to” it is even more in my brain closer to the surface)
I discovered last week that I had completely…well 50% forgotten the first 2 …just practicing again this week
probably a coincidence but I started that this morning to see how it sounds recorded…ouch…because I do it occasionally in between playing other stuff , but during a serious attempt to my girl I heard some buzz and unwanted plucking of strings …
That B7 is a …well …uh …I’ll say it again…a female dog
Slow but staedy is the best way
Easy…a little every day and practice neatly, otherwise no sticker from the teacher …Well, that’s a new tip…Right? sorry …have fun
So now that B string … idiot
So now you and Silvia are the rest of the day in my head when playing (ha ha that’s fun)
All the best and I liked talking and laughing with you but hope for better times without talking about that %$#@ fatigue, but if necessary I will give it "a heartfelt boost " every week
We say …
Yes, very happy with BLIM, but a lot came in the way so I had a hard time to keep up after the second month. I am far behind, but they told us in the start that almost everyone would not digest all of the material and that you can always come back later to the lessons after those 6 months. And I am bad at memorizing those licks!
I am almost decided to start my own log, but well… one day soon…
Wishing you a good amount of entertaining guitar time,
Dominique
Oh this is so true and totally relatable. Fingers crossed that closing this gap won’t take too long.
He is growing so fast, it’s incredible. He weighs 9.5 kg already, that’s more than 3x his birthweight. He’s our little sunshine and the first two teeth make his little smile even more adorable.
Thanks so much for asking.

Same here. I’ve been using the ‘G Major Wishful Here’ BT (which is obviously based on a well know song) for improvisation, and using the solos (or parts of) as a starting point. Still doesn’t sound really musical but it’s a lot better than it was.
@roger_holland Thank you so much for your encouraging words, Rogier , very appreciated, especially as I know, you are having to take a big load in your life too. You are a big example about picking out the positive aspects out of every situation! So we keep on keeping on
!
Glad to hear, that others also forget pieces they have practiced for hours. I had Greensleeves on the shelf for weeks and had a few gaps when I picked it up again .
Let’s call it “challenge” . I the end we will win!
@domi7 Ha, life gets in the way for most of us, but happy you enjoy blimming! As you have life long access, you can take it easy…
looking forward to this!
@Lisa_S Enjoy every moment, I’m wishing you all the best for you and your little family !
@Stuartw I’m sure, It’ll get more musical with time. As always. we have to be patient!
Not sure which solos you are talking about?

My string killing story didn’t come to an end yet…
I had some serious buzzing on the high e string for weeks in February which totally annoyed me and I hoped, the string change could help, because the guitar was setup only a few months ago and I never had issues with that, apart from the very beginning.
When I changed strings for the first time, the buzzing was nearly gone, but after the second change due to my mishap, it was worse than ever as the b string started to buzz too, both mainly in frets 2 and 3.
Two days later, an awful hum/vibration started on the g string. After some fiddling I decided to bring the guitar to my guitar tech.
He could do something for the buzzing e and b strings, but not so much for the awful vibration caused by the g string. Some deeper searches would be necessary, maybe parts of the electronics or a loose bridge or even worse, a loose brace inside, could probably cause this.
What annoyed me the most was that on top my guitar neck probably has a slight irregularity (which I already determined by myself) as the action differs from bass to treble strings. No good sign at all… could be a manufactoring defect or probably caused by humidity conditions. Bummer!
So for the moment, I have to live with this and see how it turns out in the end. Grrrrr… . It’s a 750 Euro guitar. Don’t know, if I should be happy this happened “only” on a mid range instrument or should I be angry, that I have blown out a lot of money on a now awful sounding guitar
.
The positive aspect was, he did the quick fix for free as a service although this guitar wasn’t bought in his store, what a nice attitude!
Oh no, this is indeed a real bummer! This is definitely nothing to be expected from a guitar that costed that much. So your anger is completely understandable. In our mid-european weather I would not expect humidity to be the villain in this story, though.
Fingers crossed that something can be done (and won’t be too costly), so you can enjoy playing this guitar again in the future.
Wow, that’s great! It’s those little things that a) give a good feeling and b) make you probably come back to him.
Oh no! Now you’re reminding me Greensleevs which I really like… I probably forgot half of it also … so a few gaps isn’t that bad!
Oh no again!
If you lived in Berlin, I’d like to take a look too!
How long ago did you buy it? If you bought it not so long ago, maybe there’s some chance about warranty?
Check this out from about 12mins in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPVef6YlOLw&t=211s
Too bad, there’s more than 650 km between me and Berlin , so unfortunately no chance to get there soon. But I really appreciate the offer
.
I bought it in July 2023, so there should be warranty, but I daubt, I could proof that it didn’t happen later. I’m still keeping an eye on it…, maybe I try to find a luthier to check that out.
