The LEGO Lads have a great vibe going on and by listening and looking at the videos shared, I would NEVER had guessed itās the first time you all played live together. It sound great and it looks like so much fun and joy. Thanks for sharing these special moments here.
Are there any plans to do this again?
Also it was great to read you all had a blast and were enjoying the good things in life as well as making music. Great stuff!
Hi Brian,
So. ⦠that was a nice long read, watch and listen experience on an early Sunday morning, well before 9 oāclock ⦠(just have some tea, process it and tap it now)⦠lovely most beautiful solo in the 2nd post production btwā¦
great all those video points of recording it gives a really nice impression⦠great to see and read the fun through everything⦠great during my breakfast to see and readā¦
We hope that you enjoy it for a very long time this enormous super experience with your family and Chrisā¦
@Jenndye429
Aw, thanks, Jen
One thing messing around in a basement amongst ourselves. The two Larsen brothers would prefer a root canal without anaesthetic to playing live
Cheers @LievenDV
Yeah, I thought six was going to be a lot, and then Larsā nephew, Ebbe, decided to join us at the last minute. Heās a bit crazy. Arrived into the basement, took off his shirt, strapped on his Les Paul Special and jumped up on the sofa bed ripping off a solo on the first song
On most of the songs, we would just keep on playing whatever the outro was, until everyone who had wanted to have a go at a solo had finished.
Great fun!
Vielen Dank, Lisa
We may have created a bit of a monster here, but itās early days.
Iām not sure Iād go to the trouble of doing an 8-Track recording again. Thereās a fair bit of mixing to do, and not really any use for it, as itās only really of interest to the participants.
A mobile phone recording acts almost as well as a āsouvenirā
I could see us doing something similar at our house, but maybe on a ālower levelā. The logistics would be easier, with less travelling, and instead of recording, we could just have a musical houseparty at the end, inviting friends over.
I havenāt mentioned this to the others yet though
@roger_holland
Ah, Rogier, Iāve missed you (or your posts )
And it was indeed a special time, so even more kudos for not āraining on my paradeā with any smart Alec remarks
Much appreciated, although the honeymoon period is now over, and Iāll be posting much āmore of the sameā, so feel free to take the gloves off and tease me again
@DeltaTyne Cheers, Hec, but you wouldnāt have had room!
Even though we agreed to choose two songs each, Chris pushed the boat out and wanted a third. I think he just wanted a reason to bring his mandolin.
Unfortunately, I had brought an āoldā chord sheet with me with the wrong progression for the outro, which caused confusion, so apologies to anyone expecting the original ending
I was clear before we went and during the playing that Iād be taking a back seat on this iconic song. I love it, but itās out of my range and almost impossible to recreate. Thatās why this video is the only one which actually moves around, as I wasnāt participating.
However, during mixing, Hans was giving me grief saying I should at least put some vocals on it, and I donāt really have a lot of time for folk who are afraid to give something a go, because theyāll be embarrassed, so I decided to give it a go.
The best I can say about it is that itās at a low enough level to ignore, and it doesnāt take away from the othersā performances, which I am still in awe over
I didnāt have the intro on video, so spliced on an earlier practice run, from the day before Tor and Ebbe arrived.
Edit: Now that all the songs have been mixed and the playlist āfinalisedā, I decided to go back and edit out the added āwailingā in the middle section It was fun and educational but does detract from the song overall.
Wooow, that must have been lots of fun and great memories created. I loved your addition to The great gig, that is a proper cheeky Brian Larsen there. The solo was just brilliant.
I thought you sounded very well together, a proper band!
Hi Brian ,
your voice was made for the intro of the great gig ā¦very warm and not inferior to the originalā¦well the first second talking then after that they are recordings from the past from the āTower of Londonā I assume???
You must have had a lot of fun shouting that out like thatā¦I had a good laugh and of course you too I see at some people ā¦I continued to enjoy the music and the videos are a big part of thatā¦
They say Karma bites you in the derriere
One good thing about having four guitarists playing is that you can carry on when one of them needs to do some technical troubleshooting
Iāve just had a chance to listen to all your recordings Brian and I have to say Iām blown away by the whole thing. What a project, what a great time youāve all had but most especially what terrific music youāve all created. Whether itās the āmore representativeā stuff or the āpost productionā content, youāve created something quite special here.
I also thought your vocals were perfect.
As you know, Iāve just spent a couple of nights in Liverpool. You guys would knock the socks off any of the street performers Iāve seen around here!
Well done the LEGO lads!!
The opportunities for engaging with others musically is quite amazing. You just have to keep your eyes (and ears) open and be proactive
Aw, thanks Gordon
It was quite special in so many aspects. Not a single ego was to be found and everyone trying to make everyone else sound/feel good. There was a lot of laughter!
A couple!
Youāre a bad man, not letting me know
Youāre forgiven this time, but donāt do it again
Cheers Adrian
Iām still grinning from ear to ear
Apologies for the length of this next song, but thatās what you get when three grown men try to āout-Claptonesqueā each other after the singers have finished with the songā¦
Itās actually fun to watch Lars try to herd all the cool cats, with everyone ignoring his conducting and bullying him into a solo at the end
