Do You Remember? - Phil Collins

My ‘one take Wednesdays’ seemed to have morphed into ‘one take whatever days’ :grinning:
Confession time. I can’t really call this a one take as I posted a video at the weekend only to realise I’d posted a sound balance clip by mistake. I deleted that and went back to replace it with my one take but found that I’d accidentally deleted the whole thing.
I recorded it again today so it’s a take 2!

I thought I’d have a go at another Phil Collins number and as promised on another thread somewhere, I’ve used my Trio+ as a backing track. There’s been a bit of discussion about Trios recently and @Richard_close2u used his on his recent Club lesson so it seemed appropriate.

Hi Gordon,

What a great approach to this classic … super the playing and the singing and a nice and fast fingers in between :sunglasses:… nice nice nice :sunglasses:

And I was already wondering what you screwed up when I saw this appear earlier and it was deleted by yourself

Fun fact, my wife is now standing in the kitchen humming this song while I type this  :sunflower:

Greetings

That was cool Gordon, so cool that we will forgive it not being a “one take”. Really like how you incorporate those little fills into your playing.

Actually, no I don’t remember! It didn’t stop me enjoying your performance though, Gordon. Especially liked the trill.

“Smooth canoe” on the chord changes along the fretboard and good rhythm too.

Very enjoyable yet again Gordon. Clean melodic, great vocals; just a great engaging performance allround.
You always seem to ‘take me along with you’, when you perform. Its a rare gift man, honestly.

Cheers, Shane

Your strumming has groove! :sunglasses: And the Trio+ sounded great with it - what is it exactly? I might check that out :grinning: The fills were awesome too
Great job!
also, just love your smile at the end of the video

Don’t remember at all, Gordon  But this is most memorable. Every element coming together to make a fabulous performance. Excellent work on the riffs and embellishments, thrown in so smoothly.

Now given this was recorded on another day it is still a single take in my book :grinning:

You could call them One Take Wonders and who care what day of the week you produce them.

I remember seeing you posting the other day and promptly taking it down. I was thinking he’s had a senior moment and forgot the day of the week. Jokes aside as usual you delivered another great performance. Good to see you dusting down the trio plus. Now we just need you to treat us to some OTW blues.

Well done, Gordon. That’s a great song (yes, I remember…) and I like your performance very much.
BTW, nice backing track by Trio+, I’m thinking about buying one.

Well that was really well performed Gordon, what ever day of the week it was done. Can’t say I recall the song as not really a follower of PC but very pleasant easy listening. So job well done. :+1:

I like your consistency in approach, Gordon… and it’s paying off
You’re so comfortable now with your embellishments/runs and performing smoothly too.
Bravo! :bouquet:
And good to see a return of the Trio+ club!
Now you may not have noticed (due to lack of visuals) but I played my last song with a pick :open_mouth: That gives me permission to remind you that the balance between guitar (with Trio backing here) and your vocals remains out of kilter.
I support your avoidance of wasting time, money and effort on tech, but why not ask Santa for one of these?
Even if you just put it on a table, so the phone mic is closer to your cake-hole than the guitar, it would make a big difference.(If you’re worried about hair-thinning on top you can always wear a beanie )

Rogier, Eddie, John. Thanks so much for giving my cover song a listen. As always it’s much appreciated.
Glad your wife enjoyed it Rogier and I’ll accept your forgiveness Eddie.
Don’t worry about not remembering it John. We’re both at that age!

Very well done Gordon.
A enjoyable listen for sure.

That trio+ seems like it’s a pretty dandy tool. I missed the discussion on this so thanks for sharing this tool in use for us. Tech these days just amazes me.
You sure do have it’s use down good.

I love your One-Take “concerts”. Always enjoyable. Your embellishments are top notch! I don’t recall this PC song but I always enjoyed his and Genesis’ music. You pick good songs to learn and play in my opinion.

‘Smooth canoe’. Love it CJ.
Toby, I know this style is not quite your ‘bag’ but glad you enjoyed this easy listening song.

My work here is done!

Thanks guys, your support is much appreciated. I’ll reply to you together as you all expressed an interest in the Trio+.
It’s a clever piece of kit and there are loads of descriptions/tutorials online. A search on this forum will also bring up a lot of info.
Simply put, it’s a pedal into which you play the basic chords of your song. It then creates a drum and bass accompaniment which you can use as a backing track. You divide your song into sections eg. intro, verse, chorus etc. and create a backing for each part. You can chose various style options, pop, rock, country, folk etc. and the Trio+ creates the backing beat in that style. It also has a built in looper which can be used separately or in conjunction with your backing beat so it’s really two pedals in one. It’s fairly easy to use but like all tech has a slight learning curve. If I can do it anyone can.
